I love that the author touches so many family issues and the trauma that so many children suffer in their homes, often at the hands of the parents. Growing up in a home with an alcoholic father had an impact on who I have become as an adult. My mother was often in denial about the effect it was having on us and left us unprotected in many ways but especially emotionally. I never suffered physical or sexual abuse but some of my older sisters did - not at the hands of our father but at the hands of other male relatives.
Sadly, help often has to come from caring people outside the family just as ours did.
This book clearly indicates the paths that children in a bad environment take. I chose to hate the very things that were in our home and severed myself from that environment while others in my family embraced and are repeating it.
Pulls on all the heartstrings!!!

I have had little understanding of what damage alcoholism can do to a child. My daughter has been a member of al-anon for several years, and tried to explain what a child of alcoholism goes through in later life. Now I understand. Rosemarie Naramore has written an exceptional story in "With All my Heart". We meet Mike a cop and child of alcoholic parents, and Denise,a Social worker who has seen the worst a parent can be. Thrown together, they are loving, caring people. For the children: Together they make a difference and fall in love. 5 stars. Recommended

I like an author that can make you feel every emotion while reading. This book was filled with it all. It's a sad story of real life and I found myself brushing away tears along with the characters. It was well worth the read.

While the story is a romance the emphasis is on Mike's issues from growing up in an abusive, alcoholic household and learning to overcome them. It seems consistent with what I have heard from friends in the same situation.

This is a quick read offering insights into the effect of the addict (alcoholic or otherwise) on his family. It details the effects on the psyche of those who are too young to defend themselves. It offers hope that those who have suffered can overcome damage and find love.

It is a nice story, a story of hope and the rhythm is also interesting. I liked the characters also even if at times they sounded too perfect but as I said the story was nice and sweet. But, and this is a big but, the narrator clubbed me with a big hammer on the head about alcoholism. Yes, I know that alcoholism is a very big problem and yes I know that it can destroy a person, a family but I don't need to be hammered with it every two pages on the book. I think, on the positive side, that this book could be rescued and be edited and be a very nice book to read.

The main character, Mike Banner, was a child of alcoholics. Although, he could have gone in a different direction and became a monster like his parents he became a cop to protect the innocent. He had always been told he was worthless but was a hero to others who suffered at the hands of dysfunctional adults. He had never been shown love from his parents but because of his decent heart and the compassion shown by a social worker named Denise, he learned to love others. This was a very good story. It is a story of hope.

It was a good read, not great. I felt it was a little slow, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Cute story line and romance. I would recommend it!
