The saying goes, Once Burned, Twice Shy, but in poor Ellie’s case it was more like “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.” She’s not had the best of luck when it comes to men, until she finds herself on the outskirts of the little town of Liberty, about to be saved from doing something she’ll regret later, by one Walker McKinstry. A relationship is the farthest thing from her mind when she takes him up on his offer to help. But the best laid plans and all that…
Walker is the epitome of the perfect bbf! He’s sweet, incredibly kind, and unbelievably caring. He was so patient with Ellie, willing to be there as her friend until she was ready and willing to admit to the feelings that had been growing between them. Theirs was a lovely slow burn of a romance that had me rooting for them from the start.
Overall, this was a stunning book of love at first sight even though Ellie fought it at first. But their chemistry was off the charts beautiful. I adored the concept and the banter in this book as it was fluid and kept you on your toes. I am a huge fan of this author now and I highly recommend this book or any of her past ones!
All I Need takes place in the same town that her other books are mainly set in (Liberty). It follows Walker, a veteranarian who has devoted the majority of his adult like to helping his twin sister raise her son, and Ellie, who has been engaged twice. And been cheated on. Twice. They meet on the side of the road when Ellie is about to destroy last fiance's car. With a golf club (good for her!). Walker can feel that Miss Polly is just what Ellie needs, and this brings her home. Walker does a good job of giving Ellie time to adjust, but knows that she is all he needs. And she is.
Jennifer Van Wyk crafted a wonderful plot (with a twist that I hadn't expected!) and set it with some great characters. I loved Walker with his patience. Ellie's resilience, Miss Polly's wisdom, and Grayson's insight. And I loved the little cameos by past characters, as well!
This is a book that I will read again! And again!
