I have been holding out on this one as I had hoped the kinks would get worked out of this stick. I own the original stick (which is Alexa-less enabled and it works like a charm)
This time, the stick is a nightmare...well maybe not so much the stick as the remote that controls it. It constantly freezes. I have to press it a million times in hopes it will reset or unfreeze. I end up disconnecting the whole TV setup and starting over. By that time I don't even care to watch a movie anymore. I am horribly disappointed in it as I love the first edition. I have replaced the new one with my trusty old one. It may be Alexa-less, but it works.

I have not used cable or any other form of TV other than my PC for the last 3 years or so. No less then 2 years at minimum. I love the Fire TV stick, I am a 100% disabled Medically Retired U.S. Army veteran. I am unable to do most things I could have done prior to getting injured so I spend the majority of my time inside due to pain and what have you. I tend to watch shows religiously now, not really but technically for any normal persons standard of living it is for lack of better words unhealthy for the amount of shows and randomness I watch throughout the week on this Fire TV Stick. I recently came across one problem where I believe I yanked the cord on accident and the Micro USB Type B Female port on the stick broke on the soldering points. I am pretty good with anything technical so I attempted to fix it because I am out of warranty.. I ordered soldering and these to replace the broken port on the stick.. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MS3XKUJ/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1 The Amazon Fire TV Stick works still with the new port. Second I dropped my Amazon fire tv remote into a glass of soda with ice in it. It was fully submurged. All I did to fix the remote was remove the batteries as soon as possible then I dunked it into a glass of Isopropyle Alcoholic 99% over night. Like this https://www.amazon.com/Swan-Percent-Isopropyl-Antiseptic-Solution/dp/B00ZCCYTWG/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1499317690&sr=8-1&keywords=Isopropyl The remote works still, voice does not. When I contacted amazon before being able to repair this stick they gave me a 70% off discount because of my situation and because I was out of warranty. I got insurance and warranty for my new stick and I will continue to use this for as long as I can! Thank you thank you thank you for creating this Amazon. Ive tried other devices prior and they do not work as well as these do!

Keep in mind that I am a non-techy, so my comments might be dismissed by the techy types. First of all, the instructions were clear, except for the fact that the instructions do not indicate that to move right or left on the screen, you must use the outer ring of the OK button. Arrows should have been included ON the stick. While I did not have difficulty with the Internet connection at the set-up time, in subsequent usage the Internet connection was all-too-frequently not established. I know, blame my ISP... Finally, navigating through my Watchlist could be more efficient if the Arrows referred to above went up and down as well as back and forth. In short, the Fire Stick is okay, not great (in my ever humble opinion of one)

I didn't know what I was missing until I started using the Fire TV Stick! I've been an Amazon Prime member for years, and would occasionally watch movies on my Kindle Fire. I subscribe to multiple movie channels, and get many TV channels, through my cable TV service, and yet there are times when I can't find anything to watch. Enter the Alexa TV Fire Stick. I put off purchasing the Fire Stick because I visited forums that said it doesn't work with Charter/Spectrum TV/internet. I discovered it does work and it's easy to operate, whether or not you use Alexa. I love that I can give Alexa a movie title and she will play it. Or she will search "family" movies, TV shows, etc. I also enjoy watching trailers first and creating a "Watch List".
The best thing about the TV Fire Stick is that I discovered the TV series "Suits". My husband and I quickly became addicted to it, and watched all six seasons. There are also many other TV series available at no cost to prime members. I just started watching "Pride and Prejudice" and it's thumbs up!
I had a slight problem with the Fire Stick setup - but the excellent Amazon Customer Service agent was more than willing to help. As it turns out my fire stick was in German, but the agent helped set it to English. I may have figured that out myself had I realized that you need to use your "TV" remote, not the cable remote, for setup.

I was first hesitant about cutting cable and getting the fireTV stick but after reading some of the reviews on here I made my mind up and took the leap, I'm not going to lie I love Comcast but I was tired of paying so much for cable and watching the same few channels and reruns on those channels at that, so I decided to keep their internet (because let's be honest they have the best internet) and get rid of cable. I love this fireTV how did I not know about this sooner?! I get Netflix, Hulu, and music. I also ended up subscribing to PlayStation Vue to get the cable channels I did want like HGTV and I am not missing my NASCAR! All that combined I'm still saving $70 a month. So to everyone who was like me and hesitant about doing this as long as you have great internet service do it!

This device has a couple of flaws that make me crazy. I own two these, installed on different tv's. First...the remote is very problematic and unreliable. As I said...I own two setups. One of the remotes works fine. The other is terrible. I've found that the only way it works dependably is if I get out of my chair and stand within about 6 feet away from the TV. So, it seems to be a range limitation of some sort.

Secondly, and this is ridiculous, you have to download and install apps for this service. So Netflix is an app, and Youtube is an app, and HBO is an app, etc. Since the setup is associated with my Amazon account, wouldn't you think that if I downloaded and enabled an app on one of my TV's, that this thing would be smart enough to automatically enable it for the setup on my other TV? Nope.

And this may be the worse flaw. Watch part of an Amazon Prime movie on TV number one, and then move to TV number two where the Amazon account is the same, and it is not smart enough to know that you are already an hour into watching the movie so it starts it anew on the 2nd TV. Your favorites and history are not interconnected between multiple installations of this product. Imagine if Netflix worked this way. Very, very short sighted of Amazon designers and creates a terrible viewer experience in a dual setup situation.

I received my Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote. So surprised at how easy it was to set it up. I was watching movies within a half an hour. (I was interrupted by my husband or it would have been faster). "I watched My name is Doris", and "The Twin Towers". I have to say, my husband and I both agree that our TV looked and sounded better with the fire stick, but it could have been our imagination. Because I am a PRIME member, the amount of movies I am able to watch free is limitless. My husband used to walk in the room and say re-run, but not today. We currently have the second-tier of Direct-TV, and once again our bill went up. I am going to order another Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote for me and one for my mother. I will be ordering 2 more in the near future for our other TV's. I am very happy with this product, and would highly recommend it to everyone.Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote | Streaming Media Player

This stick works amazingly! I had a roku for years and it doesnt have as many benefits. There are definitely pros and cons to each but when I realized what I could do with the firestick, it was an easy decision to switch! It works quickly and accurantly also. You will love it! It also has the nifty talk to remote option but also remember it can pick up on other conversations also!

It's a great purchase. I not up to date on the newest and latest in technology, but this was so easy to install and use. I still have cable and added this to my smart tv as the amazon app is not available on my
tv. I have watched quite a few movies through Amazon prime and added a couple of apps to the mix. So far I'm pleased with the results. The quality of the picture with the fire stick is just as good or better (if possible) than blu ray. I would say this is totally worth the purchase. I'm hoping to eventually get rid of cable all together as long as the fire stick can meet the demands of my husband where sports are concerned. I have to research that more.
Alexa works great. I'm not a huge fan of Alexa and wished I could get the stick without it, but it was unavailable. I looked at the Roku for that reason but opted to suck it up and just go with this option as I wanted to ensure I could have the amazon app.
I don't think anyone would be disappointed really with the fire stick.

I was given this as a Christmas gift. It was over a month before I decided to install and use it. Now, five months later, I'm experiencing problems. The remote is not working!! I've tried every suggestion available and still the remote is not working. From fresh batteries to unplugging and plugging it back in, holding down the home and play/pause button and still nothing. Since this only has a 90 day warranty, it appears my Christmas gift is broken!! Wondering did I get a dud or is this an issue with this product? Do I take the chance to purchase another one, only to have the same thing happen after a few months?
