This feels like it was made by the band for the band, if that makes sense. The documentary isn't in any manner critical, the closest it gets is a comment near the end that there are millions of bands just like August Christopher, and that was less about the quality of their musical performance and more about the struggling nature of their fame (or general lack there of). It's similar in a lot of ways to American Movie, the documentary about a blue collar suburbanite filmmaker who can't seem to get off the ground, except that there was a bit more technically correct with American Movie.
At the end of the day, your mileage will this will basically exist solely on whether or not you are fascinated by the bands lead performer, or are interested in the music that August Christopher makes. If not, it's perhaps best to stay away.
