This Cooper Lighting MS180W replacement motion-sensor security floodlight makes it simple to keep spaces around the home, office, or commercial area safe and well-lit. The unit installs easily into an existing light fixture (adapts to most wall- or eave-mounted fixtures) and provides a 180-degree detection zone up to 70 feet. Best of all, the floodlight comes equipped with a motion sensor that automatically turns the light on and off--on when motion is detected and off after a pre-selected time delay (4 or 12 minutes). For energy-efficient operation, it won't turn on during daylight hours--motion or no motion. Even more, the on/off motion-sensor function can be over-ridden with its manual-override mode by turning the light on with an indoor switch--great for using the light as a standard stay-on floodlight. At dawn, it automatically resets to motion-detecting mode. Other highlights include power-outage protection, 30 motion-detection zones, and tool-free sensor-head adjustment. The floodlight measures approximately 2-8/9 inches long by 3-1/2 inches wide by 4-8/9 inches high and carries a two-year limited warranty.

Buyers should be aware that the bronze motion detector pictured is not what's being sold. The one we received from amazon looks like the posted customer images. It's the brown kind of "bronze" that manufacturers like to erroneously call bronze these days, even though for most of recorded history the color has been widely known as "brown". It doesn't look anything like what's currently pictured on amazon (we plan to report the error to amazon, so that might change). The finish doesn't look at all metallic, like the picture does, and like anything using the name "bronze" should. The sensor window is also white rather than darkly tinted. The color didn't matter to us where we were putting it, so we kept it. But buyers looking for a bronze colored sensor that looks like the item pages official picture of what's being sold should keep looking. This isn't it.
Update: It appears the images in the listing have been updated to better reflect the actual product, since reporting the picture error to amazon. Kudos to amazon for fixing it so quickly.
I thought about returning it, but that means taking the whole fixture down again, un-wiring it, sending it back, getting the replacement and re-installing the fixture, all in the hope that their quality control on the replacement will miraculously be better than this one.
My only hope is as the weather gets colder that it may become more sensitive to a moving heat source, which would mean it works the way I want six months out of the year.
So if what you want is a detector for an immediate area only, this will be fine, but it's sure not a 70' detector.
It gives a red blink and but isn't turning the (two LED) lights on in either 'Test' or mid 'Time' position. I've given it over a minute without power before changing the settings each time.
I will give it a day and a night. If it still fails to turn on the lights, I will return it for a refund.
Day 1: the two LED bulbs were defective. One had failed after 1 1/2 years use. The second was dead right out of the box. They are LED-G8 short 120 V bulbs. The unit works fine with working LED bulbs installed. Moral of the story: test the bulbs when they arrive, like I did for this sensor.
