Jasper really is rakish and proves it early on. He isn't one of those men in many novels who are labeled "rakes" but are merely misunderstood.
The compromising situation really is compromising due to Jasper's "wardrobe malfunction." Not that it was Tessa's fault or that she even viewed the situation the way the older ladies did.
The H and h are genuinely nice people and seem well suited. Tessa's family members act and react in ways that rang true.
However, the ending was a bit difficult for me. Heroines always seem to react to misunderstandings the same way. I expected better of Tessa, but then her response allowed Jasper to do some groveling and gave him an opportunity to lavish kindness and consideration on Tessa.

Little does he know that this night will change his life.
An artist, spinster and a bluestocking, Miss Tessa Penrose hates balls, society and keeping a smile plastered on her face. All she can think of is escaping to her studio and away from all she will never embrace as her own
Little does she know that this night will change her life.
All She Wants for Christmas: A Regency Christmas Novella by Amy Rose Bennett is the sweetest and most tender romance I've read in a long time. The writing is fluid and descriptive, and the characters are both likable and believable. This is a clean romance that is suitable for any reader. It is free of blatant sexual content and vulgar language. It is truly a perfect holiday read.
With their physical deformities, I needed the story to be longer. A lot of character development could have been done in retelling the events that led to their amputations (Flashbacks are great or a prologue would have been nice.). Getting married was just the beginning. I wanted to see how they lived together as a married couple. How did Tessa manage to keep her secret, or did she? She must have had a lady's maid.
He wakes up and then they are caught in a compromising situation and forced to marry. The novella is very short so story only covers a very short time.. The book does have an misunderstanding but everything ends happily. I found out I had read this story before in the Mistletoe Collection. The book has some sexy scenes and a very short story.
