Editorial Reviews

Review

"Every page of All The Sweet Things, the stunning new cookbook by Saskatchewan native Renée Kohlman, is packed with deliciousness. From nostalgic Jam Jams from Kohlman’s prairie upbringing to innovative delights like Parsnip and Cardamom Muffins with Brown Butter Cream Cheese Icing, All The Sweet Things has irresistible recipes for cooks of all kinds. Not only is Renée a fantastic baker, she is a soulful writer and gifted photographer; when you’re not cooking from her book, you might just find yourself tucked into bed drooling over her photographs and savoring her heartfelt stories." ―Erin Scott, bestselling author of Yummy Supper

"In her beautiful debut cookbook, Renée writes from the heart, weaving stories and recipes together in a way that convinces us that we too are capable of making magic in the kitchen. A collection of both familiar and inspiring new desserts, this book is sure to become a timeless Canadian classic." ―Aimée Wimbush-Bourque, award-winning writer at Simple Bites and author of Brown Eggs and Jam Jars

"Renée has an eye for all the sweet things―everything she makes is real and approachable, and is always exactly what I want to eat, whether I know it or not. For those who eat with their eyes―and don’t we all?―her photos are irresistible, the perfect pairing with recipes that make the home cook feel like they’re right beside her in the kitchen." ―Julie Van Rosendaal, bestselling cookbook author and founder of DinnerwithJulie.com

"Renée shares all the sweet things of her life with wit, style and humour, on the page, on the plate, online, and in person. From re-worked classics to unexpected savoury ingredients―parsnips, tahini, turmeric―she’ll surprise you but will never let you down. Oh, mama! Try her gloriously messy Eton Mess, Soft-serve Mascarpone Ice Cream, or Heirloom Jam Jams. You’re gonna love this sweet book and the generous woman who wrote it." ―dee Hobsbawn-Smith, award-winning author of Foodshed: An Edible Alberta Alphabet

"Your new go-to cookbook for 'All the Sweet Things' . . . an essential addition to our list of must-have cookbooks." ―Canadian LivingM

"Kohlman's charming and handsome book is not just about desserts, but about the joys of making sweet things! Her story and food memories are part of the charm." ―Culinaire

"More than a collection of recipes. It’s also about Kohlman’s life, and there are many stories connected to the food . . . The book is a testament to following your heart, and I, for one, can’t get enough of that story." ―Edmonton Journal

"The Saskatoon native knows what she’s doing . . . Kohlman’s first cookbook, All The Sweet Things, has more than 100 recipes for cookies, cakes, tarts, pies, pastries and more, and everything I made from it was spectacular." ―Globe and Mail
