Ella Fox is a new to me author. Having never read her before..I have to say I enjoyed this book very much.
Ronan and Keely have a history. Not one based on perfect friendship but one born of pain and abuse.
He gets away and for 5 years makes a life that he likes and makes him happy. But then a phone call throws him right back into the place he thought he'd left behind. Only being back makes him realize that he hadn't really let it go.
Keely is doing the best she can. She's young but that never really mattered. What does matter is surviving until she can get out.
When history throws them together, Ronan and Keely have to come to grips with feelings that could really complicate everything.
When they both get the best gift they could've ever wish for things get even more difficult because the thing is...neither one realized this particular gift was something they wished for.
This book is ultimately about starting over. It's about grabbing your boot straps and going on when you don't know where to begin.
This book is about not letting circumstances and those really bad family things stand in your way of making life what you need and want it to be.
I loved that Keely and Ronan were able to do that and not be warped into thinking that you are what you come from.
And the ending made me smile.

Loved, loved, loved this story!! One of the things I love about Ella Fox's books is that I always get an original story. She comes up with these amazing backstories that keep you guessing until the big reveal and it's never what you decided or guessed it might be. What can I say about Ronan and Keely to describe what awesome characters they were? Ronan was basically the only friend Keely had before he moved away. Had Keely been older I have no doubt he would have taken her with him but he just couldn't stay. It drove me crazy wondering what happened that made him leave that night. My heart broke for both Ronan and Keely. They both came from loveless families. They were both the unwanted child. But they were strong enough not to let it beat them down. They got out and made lives for themselves. Then suddenly Ronan is forced to return years later, under tragic circumstances that turned out to be a blessing. It was touching to read about them reconnecting and bonding through the arrival of Emma. They both fell in love with her despite the horrible family values they were raised with. They were caring and loving people despite the crappy families they were both dealt. I didn't see the twist coming, as usual! Ella always keeps me guessing in the best way! I loved the banter between Ronan and Canter and it was obvious why they were still best friends even though Ronan moved away. I can't wait for Canter's book!!

I'm not sure what about the blurb pulled me in, but it did, and I'm so glad it did. Keely and Ronan were a very different couple than others that I've read- and I read A LOT! They had a history, their siblings were
married, and similar, yet different, painful pasts they over came.

Keely is 19 and working her butt off to get out of Fort Collins, where she was raised. Ronan had fled years before, after stopping to say goodbye to Keely. We learn about their childhoods with awful, negligent parents and obvious parental preference to their older siblings. We know Ronan fled because of his brother, Will, and that Keely wants to leave because of her sister, Izzy and brother in law, Will (Ronan's brother).

The book starts with the deaths of Izzy and Will. Keely was in the car with them when it happened, while they were on their way to L&D because Izzy was in labor with a surrogate baby, or at least, Keely thought she was. Keely then adopts her niece and our love story starts from there.

This story pulled me in from the beginning. Why was Ronin leaving? What happened? What were Will and Izzy up to that was so awful? All is eventually revealed and it's a doozy. This book is all the feels. Sadness, anger, happiness and love. I would say it's a good mix of a heavy and a light read.

I was so excited when I saw that this eARC had dropped on to my Kindle.

From the first page, I was drawn in to the world of Keely & Ronan and just from the prologue I was like "dammmnnnn this is gonna be good"

I read this book in a few hours, non stop. Whilst I really enjoyed aspects of it, I also felt like something was lacking to give it that X Factor ya know?

I was intrigued to find out what happened for Ronan to leave all them years ago, however when it finally came out I was like hmm okay then.

Also, 60% before we get some bow chicka wow wow, and even that was just a finger bang! Still had to wait a wee while for some full on loving ;)

I freaking loved Ronan with Emma, right from the get go - so freaking swoonworthy!! and the Epilogue part - gah perfection!!

Ok, so yeah - whilst i Loved the story in general, I felt it was lacking in the usual Ella Fox finesse.

I didn't like it didn't hate it and would have given it 2.5 stars but that is unavailable of course. The author tried to make a big deal out of the age difference but I don't recall that she established how old he was to begin with. I know that Keely was 19 and it had been 5 yrs since he had been home but didn't sound like he was that much older than she was, plus they made a point of talking about her maturity at the age of 14 and u wouldn't expect maturity level to lessen, rather u would expect it to age appropriately with life experience. (ok, I know I am putting much too much thought into a book of this caliber). The writing was ok, the angst was certainly there but what I didn't like about this book to warrant the low rating was the foul language. I have nothing against the occasional F-bomb or the GD word or even milder cuss words used a little more frequently but the F-word was their go-to expression. It is more appropriate I guess with the mano a mano male friendship scene but this was ridiculous. The author should make more use out of the grammatical pause... or maybe get a thesaurus or something but this was just too much. In one scene they are confronted by someone from their past and she starts cussing at them (and really foul cussing at that) and they take umbrage with her language in front of the baby but their language (mostly his) is no better. So, basically they were also hypocrites. First time reading this author and will likely be my last.
