Penny has been left empty, lonely, sad. Her foster mother never loved her and in turn, now fully grown, has never truly felt the power and emotion of love. That is, until the day she became pregnant and gave birth to a caring boy whom she named August. With her son, not only does her heart softens, but both can experience something almost unreal and magical together. Unfortunately, Penny finds out too soon that she does not much time to live, and makes it her life mission to find someone suitable and loving enough to care for August.
Wow…such a powerful and entrancing read. Written in both first and third person point of view, Curti grabbed my attention right from the beginning. Her writing style flows so nicely from one scene to the next that my heart soared while reading.
Though there were sorrowful moments throughout the read, there were also times of beauty. When an author can make you feel varying emotions in one book, then you know she has done her job right. Needless to say, the read was emotional and can really open the reader’s heart.
With not enough words of praise, I happily grant this well-written novel a 5-star rating. For those who enjoy well-written, emotion-filled novels, then this is for you!
Disclosure: I did receive this book for free in exchange for an honest review; however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Martha Curti is an author with great talent, her novel shows her deep understanding and love of the natural environment and human nature.
I cannot wait for her second novel, but in the meantime, will be reading In All Things over again...
