There's a thin love between love and hate.
You can hate the person you love for making you feel the things you are not ready to feel.
Luke shuts Tessa out. Yet, he wants her. She's all he wants... all he has to do is ask.
Holy-angst-heart-breaking feelings!! When you meet Luke and Tessa in Where I Belong you can tell their story will NOT be easy. It's not even gentle, not even a little bit. All the emotions floating between Luke and Tessa will get under your skin. It's going to heart. But Ms. Daniels makes the hurt feel good. Also, insanely sexy. I read the book in a day because I was afraid I would lose the connection unfolding.
I'm loving this series and I can't get enough. I'm anxious to dive into the next book. So yes, I continue to recommend this series and become an addict like the rest of us.
...have a desire to possess or do (something); wish for.
Sometimes just being that person that someone wants is enough. Then there are those other times...Times when no matter how hard and long you fight, someone simply wanting you is not enough.
This is a love story full of passion and angst that will not only leave you frantically entangled but drowning in your own anguish from simply experiencing the wretchedness of Luke and Tessa.
Luke Evans. Apprehensive. Enigmatic. Temperamental. Emotionally raw. Intensely wounded.
He is all of those things but yet, he is so much more. This is a man full of agony, heartache and sorrow. He's also afraid...afraid of love, afraid that the one person who made his heart beat again will be the same person to make it stop. He gives her bits and pieces hoping it will be enough. He pushes her away, never letting her get close enough. He never expected to find someone that would crawl into his skin so deeply that nothing or no one would be able to remove them.
Tessa Kelly does just that. She's beauteous, bubbly, ballsy and bold. Tenacious, impetuous and hasty.
She gets to him in ways no one has ever gotten to him. Being under his skin is simply not enough for her, she wants to be as permanent as the tattoos etching his skin. He is perfect for her and she is perfect for him but being perfect for each other no longer works for Tessa. She wants love, and not just the hearts and flowers kind. She wants love filled with immense emotion. No secrets, nothing held back. She wants every single piece of him plus some and she is relentless when it comes to getting what she wants.
Witnessing this s--- beast of a man fall in love completely, tortured soul and all --- has left me with a big, fat gaping hole in the middle of my heart! What started out as fun filled s--ual escapades and thrilling carnal adventures soon turns into an unforeseen breakup when hearts, futures and dreams become involved.
As always, J.Daniels delivers another beautifully written story but this one, this one shows vivid emotion. It will wrap around your heart, squeezing until it bursts open and stops beating right before she gives us exactly what we want...an emotionally wrecking happily ever after that brings us back to life. This is a love story that takes you, right along with the H/h, on a journey of a self discovery as they realize the true meaning of love and becoming exactly what each other, not only deserves but wants.
Luke and Tessa. Good lord. These two. They just go to show that friends with benefits won't always stay that way for long. After their brutal split in Where I Belong, they allegedly hated each other. Except it's ridiculously obvious they didn't hate each other at all. They pushed each other's buttons. They tried to make each other jealous. But, at the end of it all, they loved each other and were hurt over the split and the events that led up to it. I simultaneously loved them and wanted to shake some sense into them.
All I Want was basically made of feels. It was angsty and messy and made me feel all the emotions. It was downright painful to read at times. It left a mark. I know these are two characters I won't forget for a long time to come. Don't worry though, it wasn't ALL emotional; there were plenty of funny and sexy moments along the way. It was easy to get completely wrapped up in Luke and Tessa and the mess they created for themselves. Silly, stubborn characters! *shakes fist* We also got to see some great scenes with Mia, Ben and Nolan, so that helped lighten things up a bit, too. (Plus, you know, I loved seeing them again.)
I'm really enjoying J. Daniels' Alabama Summer series! I still have one review to write so I won't get ahead of myself, but I will say I binged the first three books in the matter of a day and a half. I'm sorry I waited so long to take this series off the shelf (so to speak, since it's on my eReader) but I'm glad I did it now. I have a "thing" for sexy and swoony southern boys and strong and sassy southern women. "Thing" is a good one in this instance, though. I love them. ;) This series ticks all the boxes for me and I can already say I'm eagerly anticipating the fourth book in the series, What I Need. Thankfully it'll be released next month, so the wait is pretty bearable.
