I thought this book was a winner. It did not have hard core sex scenes (which I do not have a problem with). It drew you in with the emotions of the characters. I really thought that was very clever of the author. The message was very clear. When you find true love go with it. It was refreshing to see the dynamics of the Father and Son's relationship. This book will make you yearn for that true love if you don't already have it. I thought the kidnapping mishap was a bit outside of the story. It was a good and refreshing read. With a lot of interracial romance having hard core sex scenes this one was not like that. It kept me entertained. That is all you want sometimes. I will be looking for other books by this author.

I've been delighted to find there is such a genre as IR romance. I've been less than thrilled, however, with the bulk of the dozen or so titles I've read to date. "Uneven" is probably the most diplomatic way to phrase my reaction to what I've read so far.

Allegro changes that in a big way. So much so that I am willing, finally, to put my name to a review for a book from a genre that, in the main, seems bent on including as much gratuitous sex as posible on every page and makes you think that's the only reason or way people of different races would ever connect.

Allegro is a mature, well-written book about two mature, well-to-do professionals. Their differences in color and culture don't keep them from recognizing their attraction to each other nor from exploring that attraction. Surrounding characters are also well drawn and lend meaningful support to illuminating the background and personalities of the two main characters and to the overall storyline. Challenges of interracial relationships and less than positive attitudes about them are realistically woven into the story without detracting from the romantic tone set by the author or throwing the characters into over-extended bouts of doubt. Even the issues of reverse racism, equity, and affirmative action are handled well in the framework of the story arc.

The author handles the couple's love life with a deft hand - the maturity of the writing and character development leave room for neither tawdry euphemisms that leave you wondering what's happening nor, on the other hand, long drawn out explicit sex scenes that add little to nothing to the story.

I think this one moves to the very top of my favorites list as being the hands down all-around winner. (Others have elements I've liked but missed the mark in coming up with a balanced package.) I'm hopeful I'll come upon another IR book of the caliber of Allegro very soon.

Allegro is a very well written delightful book, with unusual protagonists, mid-age ( quite refreshing, there is life after 30...), two different nationalities, cultures and races. Once I started reading it I couldn't stop!
The book describes very well the world of Advertising Agencies and the challenges successful women encounter in their personal and professional lives.
Being myself a European having lived in the US, I found it very interesting the cross-culture situations, certainly the author knows very well Italy.
I really hope we can enjoy soon a second book from Adora Bennett.

Finally a romance novel that is not filled with over the top sex scenes. I love the maturity of the couple and the realistic story line. First time reading a book by this author and I look forward to reading more. I also have to mention the quality of the editing - no typos. Great read.

Thank you Genesis Press and Ms. Bennett for delivering a MATURE romance that I trhoughly enjoyed. This story involves Jada who is in her mid 40's and carreer driven, she is not the ususal romance story lead. I love Jada's style and her example of a strong black woman. Luca is in his mid 50's and he is romantic, family focused and wow, a great guy. I dont want to give anymore of the plot away - but I read MANY AA romances and so far - Allegro and Ms. Bennett delivers a mature, romantic story with a great plot! Well done Ms.Bennett!

Lets be honest, a lot of BW/WM romance books out there are lacking. Just enough poorly written text to hold the sex scenes together. This one is the exception. It is actually well written and delivers a great story with great characters. You wanted to keep reading to find out what happens next. I loved that the charters were both older and accomplished. I loved that their friends and family expressed reservations about their whirlwind relationship. I would have liked to see this wonderful couple in a few more love scenes but that just me. The book is a realistic depiction of a couple from different cultures finding love and dealing with the fall out as they pursue it. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

You know the plot from others, but I just want to let you know that if you are a romance fan, you WILL love this story. just because it's old school, doesn't mean that there is no sex or passion. It does mean that there is great character development and lots of the dreamy small loving conversations, dramatic moments and sweet touches that mark this genre.
Yes, this is a Prince Charming, but Jada is a woman of substance before Luca!
ENJOY!

This book was so boring to me. I couldnt wait for it to end but it seemed to go on endlessly. It became interesting when she got kidnapped but everything ended so abruptly, including the book ending, that I felt cheated. This was wierd in itself because I couldnt wait for it to end. Lol
