The trailers frame is very well constructed and sturdy. The fabric enclosing the frame is also rugged. The zippers which secure the top are good. There is very little assembly with no tools required.Just loosen up the quick release for your bike's rear tire and mount the front hitch and then attach the towing bar to that hitch and the one on the trailer using the provided pins which have spring clips to keep them in place.

Oh, and air up the tires and pop the wheels onto the trailer. Yeah, about the tires... This is what makes an otherwise great product not quite so great. I guess it's also why they can sell it fort such a reasonable price. These are the thinnest, cheapest crap tires and inner tubes, like something for a kid's toy you'd expect to be worn out just a few days after Christmas. Although aired properly to the recommended pressure (30 to 40 pounds) one blew out within a week just sitting on the patio and the other one was already half flat from a leaky valve.

However, since the rest of the trailer is of good quality and the price was so low, it was worth it to me to invest in a pair of REAL tires and inner tubes so I could put the trailer to practical use for the purpose intended - the occasional jaunt to the grocery store.

The tires and inner tubes are standard 16 inch size available at most bike shops.

I would have replaced the plastic wheels with standard metal ones too, but the wheels are not standard. They have a quick release thing built into the hub which snaps onto the bike sort of like a socket wrench onto a ratchet. So you can't mount regular bike wheels on the trailer.

But the plastic wheels are of pretty good quality and rugged, so, after 4 months of occasional use, they are still holding up okay.

I was going to cross off a item from my bucket list - Ride the length of the C&O Canal. After doing some test rides on the trail I noticed that many people pulled trailers. To me this made sense to offload the gear from the bike frame. I thoroughly researched bike trailers and realized that they can be very pricey - even to rent. Then I came along the Allen. The price was far better and the features seemed good and the cost was how much it would cost to rent a similar item. In full disclosure I also use an Allen 5 bike rack and a Allen 4 bike stand - so returning to Allen was a no brainer for me. When I ordered the product I was disappointed to learn that it would take about 5 weeks to get it. However, it arrived in a week. It took about 10 minutes to unpack and attach to my bike. Now I was ready. I backpack frequently and keep my pack weight between 30-40 pounds. I estimate I packed about 40 pounds for my trip. For those unfamiliar, the C&O is an unpaved towpath. Day one, one of my companions had a terminal failure of his cargo carry system. This meant I suddenly had to carry half his gear - this brought my weight to well over 60 lbs. The trailer handled it perfectly. HOWEVER - I did not check all the frame screws and lost one on day one. I thought that it was the end, but a bungee cord saved the day and the trip. If you buy this trailer, make sure to tighten the frame screws regularly. Day 3 it poured rain all day. I packed all my gear inside the trailer in garbage bags and all was high and dry. You will not go as fast as normal, offroad with 60 lbs, my average mph was down almost 10.

I have not done any day trips, but I plan some more multiple day trips.

I bought the trailer to take my dogs along for the ride. Connected to my 16 inch folding bike, it sits too low to the ground the way it came. I used a rubber bungee to tighten arou the frame and keep the front part from dropping to the ground. Dogs love to ride in it. They get a bit of a work out in balancing themselves.

We bought our trailer early in 2012. We use it a lot & it's still going strong. We primarily use it during 5-10 mile city road/trail trips to & from the grocery store, Costco etc. It worked great on a Rails-to-Trails 60+ mile ride fully loaded with overnight gear. We put our beach chairs, blankets/towels & picnic in for several date-nights at our local Music or Movies in the Park. We've dropped off 2 medium sized outdoor hanging potted plants at the in-laws for plant sitting a few times & have run several other errands using this trailer on our bikes. Although it's probably not recommended by the manufacturer we've even used it to drop off the dog at the groomer (We put the kennel on top of the zipper compartment & bungeed it to the trailer frame.).
It's easy to take into Target/Costco/Grocery store to use as a cart to keep purchases in line with available room. We love the ease of either zipping in our cargo or stacking & using bungees. (People do smile/giggle when we bike past with a load of Costco goods topped off with toilet paper.)
We bought a 2nd adapter so it can easily move from one bike to the other.
The only thing that we've worn out is the floorboard of the trailer but we use it a ton & we have carried 50 pound bag of dog food + other supplies or other heavy loads that probably push the 70lb recommendation so I won't imply that it is in any way shape or form due to poor quality. We will be adapting soe support as this is not a item listed on the [...] site.
Based on how happy we've been with our trailer, we also purchased the portable carrier from Allen Sports.
