From backwoods barbecues and community gatherings, Allen Stone emerges to share personal melodies, telling his tales of life after just 24 years. Originally getting his start singing at his father s church in small-town America, Stone s intense passion for music was instantly ignited by the greats of soul music (Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin) and eventually by the confessional lyrical fashion of the 60's -70's singer/songwriters.
Since releasing his self-titled album digitally several months ago, Allen Stone has sold more than 16,000 units at iTunes completely independent of a label. ATO Records will now release Allen Stone's self-titled CD for the first time in physical records stores on July 31st. The album will also be released on vinyl for the first time along with a bonus 10' featuring exclusive new tracks.

I cannot recall a time that I have been as eager about an album release as I have been for this one, and I was not disappointed.
On this album, my favorites are "Unaware" which is a slower love gone wrong song that could have been done by one of the greats at Motown back in the day. I had it playing on a loop with a very short playlist for days just savoring the vocals like a fine glass of wine. I also enjoyed "Celebrate Tonight" which is a happy, up tempo song that made it onto my favorite workout playlist. It makes me smile every time I hear it. The entire album is a good listen for me as someone who enjoys things like old Motown, 70s funk and anything with a great beat for car dancing on long trips or during the crazy commute.
At 24 years old, Allen sings and writes waaaay beyond his years. He has performed live on national TV (Conan O'brien, and Jimmy Kimmel), and invited by Daryl Hall to sing with him and his band's webcast (livefromdarlyshouse.com). He will also spend the majority of 2012 touring the US as well as internationally, all as an independent artist with NO record deal. That alone speaks volumes about this young man.
I must say it is truly a pleasure to hear such genuine talent in a world of corporate made idols and untalented crap.
I do hope he comes out with an acoustic album but until then, I'll wait patiently for his new album in 2014 and just play this one over and over again!
Allen Stone deserves a place among truly great artists. I hope he some day he produces a live album that truly captures his talent
