In a nutshell, Myth Alliances starts with Skeeve officially retired and on retreat to continue his magic studies. But he ends up being prevailed upon by an unexpected (and unwanted) visitor to come to the aid of the dimension Wuh (whose denizens are aptly called Wuhses). It seems Wuh has been taken over by a gang of ten Pervect women, known collectively as the Pervect Ten. And they need Skeeve the Magnificent to rescue them.
On a side note, the illustrations in this book (the Meisha Merlin edition), done by Michael Komarck, were more than a little disappointing and just felt wrong. I have seen other examples of his work which were fairly good, but none of them were of the type you'd think fitting for a humorous fantasy series. Clearly a case of the wrong artist for the job.
Not quite on par with the early books in the series, but definitely worth reading and shows promise that Nye may be able to restore the wit and humor that's been missing for so long.
This is not pulitzer material. There are mistakes, but if you are willing to overlook them, it is a fast fun read.
