Gennadiy Mohknenko is a Ukrainian pastor who fights against child homelessness by abducting street kids. His tough love approach has made him a hero to some and a lawless vigilante to others. Can this self-appointed savior save his city?
This documentary is not just about saving disadvantaged kids in a post-soviet country, it is about role of a person and a civil society in fate of a country. Each one of us is a drop in the ocean, and together we are the ocean. Creators of this documentary, by coincidence, witnessed tectonic changes that have been taking place in Ukraine in the past tree years, and they took this opportunity to highlight deep influences of the past of the soviet system and development a new democratic society in a story of Crocodile Gennady an his Republic Pilgrim. I watched this documentary several times.
All I can say is, wow. As an ex-drug addict I was awed by the ability of Hoover to take us into the heart of the Ukrainian drug culture- a culture where the average user is a preteen, a street person, and likely to die from infectious disease from needle use before reaching adulthood. And there's the crazy Ukrainian pastor trying to pull them all off the streets. It's unreal. Yet somehow Hoover puts you into the rawness of this world and you experience the reality of it. With a little parental guidance good at least from teen years up- Don't miss it
Very touching, sometimes hard to watch! Pastor "Crocodile" a gentle man who who will NOT be so gentle with anyone who poses a threat to his "kids." Forget Marvel and D.C., Gennadiy Mokhnenko is a real SUPERHERO!
Great story ! This is about God ! Every person should be like Genadi! God created us for loving one another and the day will come that will be so !!! You must watch this movie ! This movie could not intuduce the reality ! The reality is greater than in movie ! Genadi did and does great job ! Real man of God ! Watch this movie and be blessed !!!
I watched this film several times he week I purchased it, and even bought an additional copy to give to my family. Its a powerful story of a man who fights against the darkness to help his fellow human beings. I couldn't take my eyes off it.
Love this movie. True story is always interesting and the story is not finished yet. Now it is war there and this man is fighting for the kids, old people's lifes and preaches the God's word. God bless Gennadiy!
The captions read that they are speaking Ukrainian when in fact, they are speaking Russian. Eastern Ukraine which is influenced by Russia, the spoken language is Russian. Interesting film, I would like to see what happens to the Pastor and his program to help addicts, alcoholics and the poor in a few years. Follow up please.
