There was about 40% of the story where we didn't know Sophie's reason for leaving. That 40% was real annoying. A lot of repeating, "you just don't understand." Even Stella had to say, "you can't lord over us that we don't understand if you don't give us a chance to understand." Once you find out she left because of cancer, it really just pisses me off. You are in love that is what love does it helps and supports. If he wasn't going to be there for you then you would be broken up for a good reason. Instead she just leaves and never speaks to him again. Side note, she left everyone like that, I think she should have owed an apology to everyone especially her best friend. Carter is not the only one who got hurt.
Then his secret of getting married in Vegas was dumb, but a little more understandable in my eyes. That is because she is a flight risk. I think I would try to have smooth sailing for just a little bit as well before dropping that bomb.
I was frustrated that Carter could not figure out where she went or that she was even related to his best friend and partner at work. What kind of cop can't figure that out. I mean he knew her name and license plate. When she leaves look into next of kin and figure things out from there. I am sure her mom had other relatives as in case of emergency, and those folks would have led him to his partner. That would have been at most a half hour of his time.
Also the whole not knowing where my cousin went off to and then slamming her when she gets home is bizarre. If the family was that tight knit, they would have went to California to see then and figure out what is wrong.
The thing is this book still kept me interested, however crusted that was
With the same wonderful wit and humor in Enough, Almost introduces more of the Iron Orchids' group of amazing women who start as friends but quickly form a tight bond. Don't even get me started on the men! Cops, EMS, Firemen...HOT. Almost is sexy, hilarious, and emotional (get the tissues out!). It's a fantastic addition to this series and will definitely keep you wanting more.
That’s all you’re getting. You need to read this book. I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to read it. I look forward to what’s to come from Danielle Norman and I hope we continue to see Sophie and Carter.
This book was a complete roller coaster of emotions and feelings. I absolutely loved this book. I have never read anything by Danielle but I love this book so much!
In Almost, the focus is on Carter and Sophie. Their story is ten years in the making, as it is about reuniting with a flame that never died. It is filled with humor, deep emotions and combustible chemistry. I burned through the pages and never wanted to put it down. The twists and turns of the plot were perfected by Danielle Norman. I truly can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.
This was an amazing second offering from an author who is -- I'm sure -- going to become a legend in her craft. I can't say too much because I don't want to spoil for those who haven't read it, but it's funny, heartwarming, and a perfect read for those who love summer reads and Happily Ever Afters! I can't wait for the next one!!
