I hope that this story is not the final installment in the series because the characters are fun to read and hilarious when paired or grouped together (suffice it to say that shenanigans ensue). The story could be read as a standalone but would be better if read after the other books in the series simply so the characters and their histories together are fully known to the reader, more than the references in this story could ever cover thoroughly considering how short this story is. While it is short, there is a lot of hilarity and heartfelt moments to make you smile and maybe also tear up along the way to the end.
The events leading up to the wedding are fun, and sometimes slightly nail biting. Sue’s mother has very specific ideas on what her daughter’s wedding should be like, and Sue has to pick and choose where to draw the line so that she can still have a wedding that feels like her, and not someone else’s. This totally brought me back to my own experiences when I was getting married, and so this really felt true to life. I even loved the little calf being born and how that effected the nuptials.
I can’t really say I liked this one as much as the longer books of the series, because of that exact thing; the other books were longer. But I still found this to be a great addition to the series overall.
ARC received from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Finally able to gobble up Cheyenne Blue's Girl Meets Girl series:
1. Never-Tied Nora
2. Not-So-Straight Sue
3. Fenced-In Felix
4. Almost-Married Moni (a companion short to Book 2's Moni/Sue)
First off, they're truly fun to read! All in all, a light, quirky, and feel-good romance. The titles alone should urge you to read them. I love them!
"Never-Tie Nora" has a bit of a Romeo & Juliet-esque feel to it (warring families, forbidden love);
I simply ADORE Moni in "Not-So-Straight Sue" (& brilliant back story of Sue's;
I didn't expect the truth behind her leaving her home to live in the UK! Wow!); and who doesn't wanna explore the Aussie outback with the totally sensual pair, Felix/Josie (classic romance!), in "Fenced-In Felix," eh?
And awww...I absolutely enjoyed "Almost-Married Moni" - I thought it was brilliant for Blue to wrap the series with a delightful story to commemorate Australia's recent marriage equality legalisation. Can't get more wonderful than that, can it?
So, Girl Meets Girl series will make you feel all fluffy & tingly inside, that's for sure! Give it a read!
Three years ago Sue proposed to Moni, but back then, same sex marriage wasn't allowed. But since end of november 2017 it is possible, thanks to the 62% of Aussies who have voted YES.
According to this decision, Sue and Moni started to plan their wedding. They want just a simple outback wedding at the Jayboro station, owned by their friends Felix and Josy. But they didn't expext the involvement of Maisie, Sue's mother. Soon they were overwhelmed by all the decisions
they have to make. Will they get their simple wedding? Or maybe, will there be a horse, who has some own plans with them?
It was great to be back with Sue and Moni in Mungabilly Creek and the outback of Australia. I love the Girl meets Girl series very much. Blue has a wonderful way to create her characters, the surroundings and the witty dialogues.
My rating 4,5stars for this funny read.
