About the Author
Maggie Dana's first riding lesson, at the age of five, was less than wonderful. In fact, she hated it so much, she didn't try again for another three years. But all it took was the right instructor and the right horse and she was hooked for life. Her new riding stable was slap bang in the middle of Pinewood Studios, home of England's movie industry. So while learning to groom horses, clean tack, and muck stalls, Maggie also got to see the stars in action. Some even spoke to her. Born and raised near London, Maggie now makes her home on the Connecticut shoreline where she divides her time between hanging out with the family's horses and writing her next book in the Timber Ridge Riders series.

This was the next installment in a series that I've read from the beginning, which now includes six books. I'm older than the target audience, but that's okay. There aren't too many equestrian-themed books written for adults so sometimes you just have to make do with what's available. Anyway, like all the other books, this one is full of Holly and Kate trying to avoid Angela and her evilness. If the horse parts weren't decently written and easy to imagine I would've likely given up on this series on the 2nd book.

Almost Perfect by Maggie Dana is by and large the best book in the whole Timber Ridge Riders series. It has a lot of twists and curves which make this story amazing. It takes you through the life of Kate McGregor and her BFF Holly Chapman. Their compete against their enemy Angela Dean and other rival barns. This book holds you in suspense until you can't bear it. 15 Chapters of an amazing story about two horse crazy girls! A must read for all girls who are as horse crazy as me!

Obviously, if I'm reviewing book six I have like the series so far. They are funny and surprising and the ending will only make you want to keep going. The character, setting and storyline are realistic and stay consistent which only makes the series better.

This was a very well-written book, and I never got bored . If you didn't know much about horses , then it might not of been interesting as it was to me . Despite this, it was an amazing book.

Maggie Dana’s series works on a very small time frame. Although there are now six books in the series, they cover a matter of weeks. This allows the author to explore developments in her characters’ lives at length, and she does this in an entirely convincing way. Because of the time scale, there’s no need for her to rush through any of the characters’ thoughts and decisions. The great strength of these books is that you believe in the characters. Maggie Dana is an astute observer of the teenage mindset, and she draws their vacillations and doubts skilfully.
She’s also a fine plotter. Working with such a short time scale, there's a risk that the books could feel as if it's a stretch to fill them, but that's the last thing you feel. The mixture of horse, school, home and relationships is finely judged. What you get are believable slices of teenage life, and (essential for a series) the characters find their way into your affections so that you care about them and want to find out what happens next.

There's a neat flying change in the plot of ALMOST PERFECT at the end that literally made me sit up as I read it and means that I will have to order TRR#7 immediately to see how it is resolved. The girls continue to develop as riders and personalities. Angela is as beautifully horrid as ever, and her manipulative tricks require Kate and Holly to be as quick and nimble in their thinking as they and their mounts are in the arena.
