It's obvious this is a sweet and clean version of a book with sexual scenes in it. The tension between Kara and Nick builds and builds, and then suddenly isn't talked about much anymore. In a book written on purpose to be clean and sweet, the tension continues to build, the attraction continues to be felt. This was disappointing.
Stand alone HEA, with hints of further books to come. I won't be reading them.
Contains no sex scenes, I don't remember any swear words, and violence (rape 5 years before the story, near drowning).
Kara is the lawyer that is dealing with several cases, one of them has her opening old wounds when her past walks into her office and won't leave her alone.
I enjoyed reading this book and was able to ignore my chores to finish reading this and find out what would come next. Aloha Texas is the first book in the Sweet Aloha series, although it is in a series it can be read as a standalone but will be enhanced if read with the entire series. This series is about the former military men, not ones currently serving.
This is the sweetened edition, but there is also the original if that is what you prefer to read. Both versions are good but this give you the chance to choose what type of romance story you read.
Nick's parents come to the small city in Texas to help him and finds out about their grandson. They are over the moon that they have a grandson, but can't tell him they are his grandparents until Nick decides to tell Bradley Nick is his father. Chris' writing is so real and it is like you are there with the family and involved with everything that is happening. I loved Bradley and how smart he was. There were a few incidents that kept me laughing from the things Bradley said. The book was well written.
There is so many different plot lines going on in this story at the same time. You might think that that would become a little too confusing for the reader, but you'd be wrong. Chris Keniston brilliantly weaves them all together so seemlessly, and so effortlessly.
I have only one warning and that is, if you order this book just make sure you have plenty of tissues on hand.
I loved reconnecting with Nick and Kara's story and have since read the following two books, Almost Paradise and Mai Tai Wedding, in the sweet and clean versions and loved them just as much.
Former Navy Special Forces Nick Harper is stunned to get a call from an attorney to come immediately to Texas at the request of the woman that broke his heart years ago but finding her in such a devastating situation will change his life forever.
Attorney Kara Lynn O'Conner's life has revolved around her career but since she befriended Patty Ann Russell her life has flipped upside down. And her news is about to forever change the lives of several others.
Excellent book, excellent series!

The characters were interesting enough, the plot was ok. The slow build up to revealing Kara’s past was ok and the connection between that, and the crash was solid enough.
It wasn’t an entirely engaging read for me, a few times I found I got bored and wanted to skim through parts. There were a fair number of grammatical errors that tripped me up too.
