A Practical and Endearing Guide to Leadership

I was hesitant to read this book based on the topic. Too often books on leadership can be dry and overly prescriptive. While this book did provide several ingredients, it was the author’s voice, experiences, and personal anecdotes that were thoughtfully baked in that really made this read a true gem. I found myself highlighting and jotting down quotes… and stopping frequently to ponder his thought-provoking and insightful questions embedded within each chapter. I know that I will be returning to this content throughout this coming year and really reviewing my own growth and experiences.

But it wasn’t just the reflective component of this book that I relished… it was the practical side too. Kelly did such a great job of including practical tips for maximizing meetings, solving problems and even introducing colleagues. This book has definitely set my GPS on the right course for empowered and reflective leadership in both my personal and professional life. Well done Kelly Croy!

A MUST read for any leader, but especially for school leaders!

This book has changed the way I look at my role in my school district and the actions of the leadership team in my school district. I always liked to picture myself as someone who just comes to work, teaches, and then goes home. However, Mr. Croy's book gives a unique perspective and demonstrates how we are all can be or already are leaders in some way in our roles. This is significant because he then shows the steps necessary to empower us to upscale our leadership roles to a level with which one would be comfortable. I found too many lessons that I can apply in my own life to list here. However, I will simply say that I think the best endorsement I can give for this book is to say that I have purchased it for all of the administrators in my school district so that they can benefit from the insights in Mr. Croy's book.

Kelly Croy shares his story and the stories of inspiring leaders from around the world in this terrific book on leadership. Throughout his book, Kelly prompts his readers to reflect on their own leadership skills. He provides a framework for examining leadership and directs readers to examples of leadership in action including lots of moments from his own life. If you are looking for inspiration and are ready to grow as a leader in your community, you'll definitely want to pick up this book!

A Great Book by a Great Person

The meat of Along Came a Leader is encompassed by what Croy defines as the six primary elements of leadership: attitude, wisdom, tenacity, communication, vision, and authenticity. As the author digs deeper and deeper into these elements it is obvious he's not only passionate about leadership, he's also passionate about making a difference in the lives of his readers. Croy truly wants his book to be a read that helps to change your life. And, if you read it, it will be! Highly recommended!

Leadership with or without a Title.

I have been a huge fan of Kelly Croy through his outstanding podcasts. When I found out that he had created this book, it was a must read. As I started to dive into the book, my assumptions were correct, this book is a must read if you see yourself as a leader. What I love most about this book is that it is a practical guide to put you on the right path and to help develop a positive mindset. If you are on the path to leadership, in any form in any organization, then this book is the right book for you. Through his writing, Kelly is able to motivate, inspire, and guide the reader to a place that will benefit them as they take steps to be the leader they desire to be.

Leadership We Can ALL Follow!

Kelly Croy is a leader in every sense of the word. He has been leading lives for as long as I can remember. He is a teacher, motivator, coach and leadership guru. When he talks I listen and when he writes I take note. Kelly is not only one of the most gifted communicators that I know but one of the most inspirational individuals I know.

In this new book, Kelly notes that leadership is both lovely and lonely. It can be isolated at the top but he reminds us that it doesn't have to be. True leadership is not only marching forward but reaching back to pour into others. True leadership is selfless not selfish and Kelly has not only a way with words but this concept down and we are all better for him sharing. Those whom lead must read and this is one book that you absolutely must get for your library to glean from again and again. Buy one for yourself and TWO to give away!
