Editorial Reviews

Kate & Humphrey and their three wolf cubs (Smokey, Claudette and Runt) are happily preparing to celebrate their first winter holidays together when their smallest cub, Runt, mysteriously disappears. They must now go on a new journey across the wilderness to find Runt before the winter festivities begin at home. It's their greatest adventure yet, filled with both action and suspense as well as plenty of the humor and heartwarming moments first theatrical release. While their adventure does not go exactly as planned, in the end Kate & Humphrey discover that 'Home is where the Family Is.'

In another review, someone referred to the first Alpha and Omega as a "surprise 'love it' movie." That's pretty much how I felt about it. I thought it would be too cheesy but it actually turned out to be pretty good, with developed characters that I genuinely liked, nice animation and overall an entertaining story.

Alpha and Omega 2, on the other hand, fails pretty miserably. It doesn't come close to living up to the expectations set by the first movie. The animation is bad. Even if you can overlook that, the story is clunky, uninteresting and at times doesn't make sense. Even the character's personalities have changed from the wolves that we loved in the first film.

Kate and Humprhey's pups were not nearly as endearing as they should have been (given how love-able their parents were in the first movie). They had no depth and just seemed like bland stereotypes that were, at times, slightly annoying.

Then there was the way the existing character's personalities changed. Humphrey was originally a humorous free spirit who loved to "sled ride". In this one he is suddenly reluctant to do all those crazy things because he's "old" now. Even though he still must rank among the younger wolves (seeing as Winston and Tony are still alive and the elders of the pack). All those funny omega things he used to do that the audience loved (and that seemed to make Kate love him) were suddenly not there anymore unless he was forced into it.

Eve, Kate's mother, was the hilariously homicidal mother-in-law in the first film. She was unpredictable, strong, edgy and prone to the occasionally bloody tirade. This made her unique and interesting. All that is gone in this film. She's basically part of the background.

We enjoyed watching this movie as a family. It had fun entertaining adventure for all to enjoy. Our kids are 7 and 8 years old. The movie duration is shorter than the usual 90 minute movies. It was 45 - 49 minutes, which suited our needs. We downloaded it as a 24 hour instant video rental. Download was quick via cable and there were no problems watching this.

Wasn't too fond of the first Alpha and Omega, Alpha and Omega 2 doesn't even seem like a movie (being only 46min long). Don't expect Blue Sky Studios quality animation or top class modeling. The "hair" model is too stiff and solid looking. But I'm getting too technical here... I realize that the writers tried to funnel in some humor for the adults, but it was all very cringe-worthy. Would kids enjoy it? Maybe, but personally I found the story boring, linear and without pizzazz (The kind you would find in a somewhat linear but wonderfully executed movie like Rio). Lacks a lot of animation like Humphrey's flower wreath at the beginning looked stiff like a cardboard ring around his neck and later Runt's eating animation isn't present either. And while we're at it, how about the names? Really? Runt and Stinky? Nothing short of genius.

Not enough movie for the money spent. Kids enjoyed it once but have not cared to see it again. I recommend not spending money on this. It really doesn't qualify for movie money. It will probably be on Amazon Prime free pretty soon. Wish I would have waited.

I feel this is a great movie for younger kids. There is not many scenes and to much going on to keep a childs attention. We ended up playing a game during the movie. My daughter would stop and watch it ever so often. I like the story line. I think the birds are funny ( I had to add that). I would not buy the mvo

Kinda cheesy at times, pretty predictable, short (seemed like it ended a bit earlier than it could have) but fun, cute and enjoyable. If you enjoyed the first one you'd enjoy this one too, especially since it's currently free to watch with Amazon Prime.

Splendid movie with excellent animation. Appropriate to the holidays. I strongly support efforts to re-introduce depleted wolf populations that
have been dangerously depleted by cattle ranchers and hunters. Cattle were introduced after the huge bison herds were hunted practically to
extinction. Stupido! Keep up the good work.

My six year old daughter loves this video. She picked the movie out herself, which surprised me. She loves animals but usually thinks likes small animals. It's very educational about the hierarchy of wolves liives in the woods. Not scary at all.
