Ian was ok. He didn't make me swoon, and I never really found myself loving him.
The story itself was ok, but could have done with a proofreader. Areas could have been tightened up, and there were quite a few misused words.
I love Sidney Bristol's Gone Geek series, so perhaps it's this series that's just not for me.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
First, it's a great mafia retelling of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Sure, the dwarves are puppies and the apple doesn't put her to sleep, but it's all there. The handsome prince is of course there to help the rescue of the princess from her evil stepmother. It all works too.
Second, the sex is pretty hot. And interesting. And well-written. Nothing took me out of the zone while reading the sex scenes so that's a big plus.
Lastly, the characters are amazing. I loved Taylor and Ian individually and as a couple. I really got behind the two of them and rooted for them the whole time. No one was overly whiney and everyone acted like an adult throughout the book which of course is a really good thing.
I did find the book a bit slow in some parts though but that is the only major thing I have against the book.
I am looking forward to reading about the rest of the princes in the little group and seeing how the romances play out. I will definitely read from other series by the author now too.
Ian couldn't stop thinking about the one who got away, it really was just supposed to be a one night stand but after she just left and it bugged him that she left and he hadn't been able to find her. After all the hype with the media and the dancing princes hubbub Ian was supposed to be laying low, it was just going to be a simple security consult however the suspicious character that hired him as received extortion threats and he wants Ian to stay on for two weeks to figure it out. Ian should say no, Zain will kill him if he doesn't, but.... Taylor is there. Taylor is the one who spirited out after an intense and passionate night together. Ian knows she's hiding something and he wants to help he took the job on pretense to help Taylor. Taylor is on the run from her stepmother, and the mob family she did everything in her power to avoid. Taylor's stepmother is very ambitious and perceives that Taylor is in her way and wants her dead. Taylor wants to go on the run again handle this herself, Ian wants it over he wants to help and after two attempts on her life she is finally ready to accept his help, very reluctantly.
Overall, the Snow White aspects just added to the charm of the book. Seven miniature french bulldog puppies, the evil stepmother, the huntsman, and the apple just perfect. It is an action packed, exciting, and as always super erotic. So hot!
Ian Kelly works for Aegis Group and has taken a short term assignment reviewing the security of a man who has received a threat. But once there, he discovers a woman he met two weeks earlier in a bar. A woman who ran out on him before morning and who has owned his thoughts since then. But where does she fit in with the trouble he sees brewing? And is she truly the innocent his heart believes her to be? Can " Prince" Ian solve the puzzle before Taylor's time runs out?
How startling is it to find out the guy you had a one-night stand will be working in the same house you are, that's what happens Taylor. Ian is the very hot guy she met at a bar and now finds herself living in the same household with him.
Lots of mystery, intrigue and definitely hot encounters between the two had me reading the book in just a couple of days. Add in a precocious little girl and seven small puppies and I would also be looking for my Prince Charming to come to my rescue.
This book is a great beginning to the series and I can't wait to read about the other characters and what fairy tale the author will weave into their stories.
