Slightly heavy case but not too bad. Does not come with instructions on how to change the lock code. To change the code first open the case and push the lock tab toward the middle of the case (opposite of opening the lock) and while holding on that position change the numbers to your desired code.
Inside is neat and nice. Liners and screws all in place and fit perfectly.
i`ll update after my first day of usage.
It's a really beautiful case, but I guess there are quality control issues. That being said, 90% of it is still functional, but that broken hinge on one side makes me sad every time I used it.
I tried contacting alpine swiss a week ago with no response.
But yes, as a lady it can be cumbersome and resemble luggage. But if you are okay with the size, go for it.
This in turn has led me to reflect on how miraculous it is that I could order, acquire and own such thing without leaving my house -- amazon itself is a pretty amazing development compared to the purchasing methods of my youth -- and then there is the fact of instant access to the lowest-possible price for the highest-quality material. Not everything is perfect in our modern economic world, but sometimes we forget what a consumer's paradise we live in.
Seriously, I do wonder sometimes if modern discontent and anger is more of a product of luxury than it is of deprivation. It's crazy that such a fine briefcase is available for $60 -- just as it's crazy that so many of the things we can buy now are so inexpensive. Every time I use it (and that's every day), I think of this. I've had it for a full year now and it barely shows any wear, it's holding up better than any previous briefcase. Thanks for indulging my philosophizing on the matter.
