It's not a bad dock. I wish they would have squared the bottom so you didn't have to fold out the dock and back support to keep it upright.
The dock adapters fit, in my opinion, too securely. If your iPod doesn't fit in the one you've inserted, it takes a bit more effort than it should to get it out. But the dock adapters aren't really needed, because the iPod rests nicely in the impression.
The sound is clear and can get pretty loud, but the claim of deep bass, unless the unit requires a big burn-in time, is false. An iRhythms unit half the size of this one sounds much better in the same room, with the same iPod, playing the same music.
It's a good travel speaker, but not for those who like bass.

I got this speaker because I was looking for a loud, portable unit that did not use a lot of batteries, Well This fits the bill, It is loud, decent sound quality, (it has some of the biggest drivers for a portable dock, so I thought the bass response would be deeper, no so..But sufficent for portable use, I takes only 3 aa batteries!.. and plays for long time, and you can get it for a good price online..also to get the best volume, turn off the sound limiter on your ipod..can play loud enough with limited distortion, but not all the way up...oh, 1 more thing, it will charge your 2nd generation ipod touch (alot of older docks will not)

It has been noted that the 4th generation iPod Nano has some backward compatibility issues with other devices. For example, the 4th gen nano won't charge on a lot of older docking stations.
I can confirm that these Altec Lansing speakers will charge your iPod Nano 4th generation. See uploaded photo. I was actually assuming it wouldn't because the description only says compatible with "iPod nano 3rd gen".

These speaker sound good for their size. The "aux" in jack is on the back if you want to use these speakers for other types of mp3 player.

We ordered this product after using the Altec Lansing inMotion iM7 for the last few years. We were very happy with our previous speaker system from Altec and after reading the reviews, I thought we would be just as happy with this one.
It's a nice looking, very compact unit. We were listening to the iM7 when it was delivered and as soon as I plugged in the new speakers, we moved the iPod to the new system. I'm not a sound snob, but it sounded like an AM radio mono speaker. The bass was horrible! We switched back and forth, just to check the sound on different songs before deciding to return this product and try to find something with better sound.

Amazingly clear room-filling sound with surprisingly strong bass for a fairly small and lightweight unit which runs on only 3 AA batteries for up to 48 hours (an AC adaptor is also included). Yeah, I know it lacks a remote plus other fancy features - all it has are an on/off button and a volume slide - but, on balance, the quality of the sound and the low price more than make up for the lack of any fancy features. Well worth a look for the budget conscious iPod owner looking for an inexpensive but great sounding set of portable speakers that can also be used as a dock to charge the iPod. Just don't expect any bells and whistles.

I got this to use with my iPod Nano 4G for home and travel. It's much larger and heavier than expected. I like to listen to podcasts and need something I can move around the house.

The pros of this are:
1. it has pleasant sound for spoken word programs
2. the analog volume control is user friendly, but analog volume controls tend to develop static over time
3. it's incredibly efficient on 3 AA batteries.

I'm returning it and got instead the Altec Lansing inMotion Classic iM600 USB. This one is a much better buy, IMO. It's lighter, more compact for travel, has slightly better sound, has FM radio, comes with a rechargeable Li battery, and offers more controls and a remote.

The iM310 is just too big for what it does.

It works with no problems with my iPhone G3. It fits nicely in the dock and still charges. It gives you a warning when you first plug in your phone that it was not made to be used with the iPhone and suggests you put your phone on airplane mode. I haven't had any issues with interference noise with the phone on normal mode even when recieving a call while it was playing. I have been using it to play "pandora" internet radio using the wifi on the phone and it works great.

The sound quality is pretty poor. This unit barely works with the old iphone. When a call comes in it crackles badly. I would not recommend this unit. For as little more get the Logiteck Pure Fi 2 it is superior in every way shape and form. It also has a built in rechargeable battery for ten hours of runtime.
