Do not trust the people who gave his watch a bad review. For those who are looking for a Core ABC watch, or for someone who is a gamer and wants the new Divison watch, this watch is for you. I got the negative digital on black watch. The wrist strap it has is strong and is durable. The screen is nice and solid. It took me 4 mins to set up, and an extra 4 to re-calibrate the thermometer. All functions work properly. The compass is weird when inside, or near a large electronic device such as a gaming computer, or inside a moving car. The barometer and the altimeter work perfectly and the buttons are big for easy access. If you don't like bulky watches, this isn't the one for you, but if you don't mind a bulky watch, this is the perfect watch for anyone. I ordered this on Wednesday, March 9, and it came on the 11th. I then took it to the gun range on Saturday March 12th, and tested its durability on my wrist(I was at the range doing everything from simple reloading drills, to simulation courses.) coming to th conclusion that this watch is something I love and will be a tool for a long time. If you are still in doubt about the Lad Weather watch, I will tell that it IS NOT a Chinese piece of crap, and money you spend on this watch, is well worth it. Conclusion this watch is 9.9/10 and performs well with different day to day situations and activities. Thank you Lad Weather for this amazing watch.

Bought this watch more than a year ago for my son, for Christmas. He liked it, although the altimeter function is *wildly* inaccurate. Not even close. I mean, hundreds, even more than a thousand feed, off while doing some backpacking on the AT. Went from known altitudes at airports and then traveled for a few weeks, then returned to the airport to fly back home and altimeter was hundreds of feet off. But the kicker was that a year to the day of when I bought the watch it quit on me. It is a two year warranty so I sent it back to Asurian, who the warranty is with, and they fixed it. Got it back in about a month and after a day it stopped working again. I'll be sending it back and requesting a refund this time around. Not sure why they didn't just send me a new watch. It cost them more to deal with this issue twice than it would have to send me a new one. Maybe I just got a lemon, but I wouldn't buy this watch again. I mean, it keeps time well enough.... but if that is all you are looking for just buy a Timex or Casio at the big box mart.

Inexpensive full-featured activity watch

I was looking for an inexpensive ABC (alti / barometer / compass) watch for general use but also for the frequent boy scouts trips I participate in with my son. I looked around at a range of watches, but I ultimately decided to give this one a try. As you can tell from my review, I'm pleasantly surprised, but not holding my breath on how long this will last. My main factors: price, features, looks - generally in that order. Some other brands compared: Suunto, Casio, Timex, Fitbit, and Garmin. I also compared to a whole bunch of never-heard-of-before brands that were super cheap.

Pros:
-I really like the negative display - yes, if there isn't too much ambient light, you will need to use the backlight (which in no way can be used as a flashlight in a pinch)
-it shows the time on pretty much all the screens no matter what mode you're in
-the rubberized band seems pretty durable and the movable loop to keep the long end of the strap in place miraculously seems to always stay in the right place
-you can turn the beeping off - useful for silent time keeping!
-pretty rugged/waterproof - I shower with it almost daily with no problems! I fell into the river while whitewater rafting and with no problems - e.g., no fogging. I have taken this with me on a number of hiking/camping trips without causing any major blemishes on the bezel or strap, etc. Granted, it was relatively well protected since it was under long sleeves, but in my day to day, I haven't managed to cause major cosmetic damage so far.
-comes in a box easily opened (also makes it easy to wrap for gifting)

Cons:
-this was my main hesitation and only real complaint: it uses an acrylic crystal so it definitely picks up really thin scratches. Hard to see unless you look carefully or if it catches the light - see picture
-the compass is reasonably accurate for general directions, but I wouldn't use it to for hardcore orienteering. It allows you to set your declination as well as generally calibrate it manually once in a while. But sometimes it "sticks" and won't change as you rotate.
-Alti/Baro features are nice to have, but I don't really use it. The baro provides weather projection which seemed to be pretty accurate.
-the instructions are generally accurate but they are really small.
-the sensor button (upper left) is somewhat exposed (unlike the other three) so it is much easier to inadvertently push that button while the other three require more intent. I think it's only problematic if you're in the water a lot since the watch, while waterproof, might take on some water if you're pushing the buttons in water.
-couldn't find any Germans either

Other consideration:
-It also has a thermometer, but as many others have pointed out, you have to remove it from your wrist for a while in order to get the actual ambient temperature vs. your wrist's.
-No GPS or Bluetooth connection to phone - neither pro/con since I wasn't looking for this feature originally. However, I have recently realized that the bluetooth connection would be helpful since then I could use it to buzz me when I receive a phone call. Killer feature for people like me who don't like to leave the ringer on during work (obnoxious) and I can't ever seem to feel it vibrate when in my pocket. The fitbit charge has this feature but then you have to recharge these kinds of watches regularly.

Bottom line - would I buy it again? Most likely. It would make a very nice inexpensive gift for your casually outdoorsy child/friend.

Forget it, buy a Casio instead

Flimsy. And with the exception of the altimeter, which worked great for me, unreliable. On the one serious trek I made with this watch I had to recalibrate the compass multiple times every day. Gains time at a rate not acceptable at this price. And mine started beeping and blowing off all settings, including time, at random intervals. Customer service in response was limited to an email telling me to mail it to them. In Germany. On my dime. Did I mention they didn't provide an address? Replaced when it died completely after three years with a Casio. Never going elsewhere again.
