This transcription kit combines a heavy duty AltoEdge USB foot Pedal (IN-AE-S) and Express Scribe Professional Transcription software (License + CD). A typist can install express scribe on their computer and control audio playback using the foot pedal. The transcribing software also offers valuable features for typists including variable speed playback, multi-channel control, playing video, file management, and more. The included foot pedal pedal is one of the most popular transcription USB foot pedals available. Weighing only 2.3 lbs its stands its ground, regardless of foot size and the re-sculpted contour of the new IN-AE-S is molded with a sleek low profile and wider flare at the base of the foot pedal, offering greater flexibility in foot size and foot movement, The internal durable and sensitive switches provide you with an "Easy- Touch" response and minimal resistance, offering long-lasting comfort. You will receive 1 x AltoEdge USB foot pedal, 1 x Spectra SP-USB Transcription Headset, 1 x Express Scribe Professional License and 1 x NCH Software Installation CD.

Software key came quickly via email, which was nice because I could start fully using the software right away, before I even received the pedal and headset. I'd been using the free/trial version of the software for about a year without any issues (other than the free/trial version limitations) and find it suits my needs without issue.
The pedal is MUCH better quality than it looks in the photo. It's surprisingly heavy, doesn't move around on my smooth floor, and the pedals are very nicely responsive. The middle pedal has a really nice height, alignment and angle; I'm not getting any kind of ankle/foot strain from holding down the pedal (unlike my last pedal, which was sort of set high and caused some foot strain with extended use). The USB cable is plenty long enough, and nice and thick - not some thin low gauge wire!
The headset at first seems to be very light and cheaply made, but it's actually not. The speaker sound quality is excellent, the inline volume adjustment is solidly made with buttons that don't feel cheap and the cord is actually perhaps a bit too long. I do wish the cable on the headset was of a slightly higher gauge (slightly thicker) as the #1 reason I usually have to replace headsets is because I break the cable when I accidentally walk away from my computer and forget to remove the headset first! But the wire gauge is reasonably adequate - it is slightly thicker than my last headset.
I'm very pleased with this package so far, and expect it to last me for quite a long while. I can't find anything to complain about with it!
VERY impressed with the AltoEdge bundle. With everything being USB, including the headphones, I no longer need a second sound card. Now transcription can happen on any computer with 2 USB ports, even a laptop. The software is more than sufficient and has plenty of options. I also like that you can configure the pedals to do anything you wish, even trigger external programs. While we're not using this feature, I'm keeping it in mind for future applications.
Highly recommend it both for work and for home.
The foot pedal has enough weight that it will stay in position. It's smaller than you think, but it works well. You can configure the actions of the pedal. That's nice.
The included headset has good sound quality. In fact, my wife uses the headset more than the foot pedals.
