I bought one of these at Kumoricon, an anime convention (oddly enough). I collect (old) watches and clock, so it was a nice find. Near identical to this one, although nearly twice the price (I'm not sure if I was just "ripped off" or that this is not the same watch. The image is the same so I am assuming it is the same). I would not suggest this for use as an actual watch, as you (like almost all wind up watches) have to set it each morning and sometimes it goes too slow or too fast.

Defaults: After some time of wearing it around my neck, the chain's black-ish plating has eroded and revealed a copper-like color, although it's an easy fix to find some higher quality chain at a crafts store and replace it. The cover isn't even, as it hangs off a bit on one side. Dirt/dust constantly gets in the joint, courtesy of the "door" (not that this is a default, just something to note. If you don't like cleaning it, don't buy it.) The covers on the back and front are plastic, but are firmly attached, but they can be "broken" (meaning they spin around loosely) if you put too much pressure on it (something my friend discovered when she was holding it). Two visible gears are a yellow plastic. Some dirt (or something like that) is in the mechanism, which greatly annoys me.

If this is your first pocket watch, you'll need to know that:.. 1. Hold down the button to open and close it, or else you will wear out the hitch that holds it shut. 2. When winding the watch, stop once you feel some resistance or you will damage the spring. 3. Over winding can cause it to jam, in which case you will need to open it up and manually start the spring.

This watch is as well designed and attractive as it looks in the pictures - I didn't notice any blemishes or production flaws on mine. It's also fairly accurate, and though I found myself adjusting it about once a day, it was never so far wrong that setting felt like a waste. I went with the cheapest shipping and it arrived nearly a week early, which was pretty nice. It's also very quiet, which is a pro or a con depending on what you want.

When you look closer the cheap parts of the build start to show through more. Both the face and rear window are plastic, and are set in so loosely that you can spin them in place with light pressure from your fingers (that said, they didn't feel like they were going to fall out or anything). For the price I paid it's not a big deal, but it wasn't a pleasant surprise either.

My only real problem is that my winding mechanism seems to be wearing out after only about 2-3 weeks. I've been borderline paranoid about winding it, paying close attention to make sure I don't feel the mechanism getting tight and watching the spring through the window to make sure it didn't look stressed, but in the last few days I've noticed you can now feel the spring sometimes "snap" back loose as you wind it up. I'm not sure how bad that is or how much worse it will get (it has become more frequent over time), but it sure feels like it might be on it's last legs already. I've stopped using it in general in hopes that it will still be ok when I feel like showing it off - again, for $20 it's not TERRIBLE, but I'm pretty disappointed that in less than a month it's already feeling like I shouldn't be using my watch for fear of wearing it out.

Buy it if you want a one-off or occasional costume piece that actually works, but look elsewhere if you plan on any kind of regular use.

I loved this watch out of the box. I have had it for almost a week now and it has stopped working already. It won't keep time for anything. I didn't mind when I had to set it each morning but then I had to set it several times a day and now it stops for hours at a time. I now have to check it against my phone every time I look at it just to be sure of the actual time. I am very disappointed because I liked it so much.

This is a really pretty watch and it keeps good time. Has to be wound "every day" or it runs down. It was very inexpensive and the little catch (on mine) doesn't always click to keep it closed. I just wear it when I know I can be careful with it. I wouldn't trust it's durability. I like it. If it had been more expensive I would be unhappy, but this is worth what I spent just for a pretty, fun and actually accurate watch. Haven't had it that long and I only wear it occasionally so not sure how long it will last.

I bought this as a gift for a friend who likes steampunk style. I had no intention of buying a pricy genuine antique, and it's quite clear that this is an imitation only. This will work great for someone who wants an old-fashioned looking pocket watch as part of a costume or just a trinket for occasional use. I can't imagine how irritating it would be to wind this up every day. It's incredibly cheap, so you can't really expect the quality to be comparable to a more expensive pocket watch. However, it is intricately designed and beautiful, and my friend was thrilled with it.

Neat and unique with a nice crisp winding mechanism. The clear parts are plastic and the face plate is obviously a cardboard insert glued in place. Worth the $20 I paid for it but I would have been upset if I paid the listed price of $60.
That being said I actually really like this little watch
