Altura Photo Neutral Density Professional Filter Set (ND2 ND4 ND8)
+ Premium MagicFiber Microfiber Lens Cleaning Cloth
Altura Photo Neutral Density filters are an essential addition to any photographer’s arsenal. These simple yet powerful filters can dramatically alter your shots.
Neutral density (ND) filters reduce the amount of light entering your camera, enabling a longer exposure time than otherwise possible. The ND8 provides 3 f-stop reduction, ND4 provides 2 f-stop reduction, and the ND2 provides 1 f-stop reduction. Stack filters for a total of 6 f-stop reduction.
Use ND filters to emphasize motion, or to make busy scenes appear surreal and calm. ND filters can also be used to enable larger apertures, which can produce a shallower depth of field, or achieve a sharper photo.

Learning from these mistakes, my day at the waterfall went great. Using the ND8 with overcast skies (and while winter here and the trees are bare, they blocked additional light.) The water looked absolutely fantastic.
I think they're great for learning with. I believe I'll keep using these, but I've already done a bunch more research and I think I'll buy a couple different ones. I think an ND10 would do me better for brighter days.
Either way, these are a ton of fun to mess with and I'm glad to have taken my first foray into it.
The other photo was taken of the state capital in Pierre South Dakota after sunset, and yes the sky really was pinkish-- the result of western wildfires. The surface of the small lake was lightly rippled, but the filters allowed me to open that shutter for a longer exposure, effectively smoothing the surface. It will be fun to continue to experiment and learn more creative ways to utilize this set. So what are you waiting for? Buy The Set.

The filters came wrapped individually, along with a fold-out pouch that keeps them relatively well protected in my camera bag. To be honest with you, I didn't even realize these were made of plastic until I read another review of this product...I guess that speaks to the high quality plastic used for these filters.
In terms of quality...well let's be honest, at less than a third of the price of glass equivalents, you really shouldn't be expecting flawless optics, particularly when stacking. That said, I can't say that I've noticed much softness if any at all while using these filters.
For the price, these are an excellent entry-level set. I'm going to keep shooting with them for now, although I would certainly consider upgrading to a glass set if they were going to be used for a professional shoot of any kind.
Second you get three good filters. For testing I stacked all three filters and compared it to my nice 3 stop tiffen and upped the aperature to F22 to compensate for exposure. So this was comparing whether using some of these filters as extra ND was comparable to the loss of quality from stopping down past F11 (if you don't know why this is dont bug me look up circle of confusion and airy diffraction disc to get you started, or just trust me). The image quality was good. I didnt notice anthing alarming so for the extra flexablity i will definately keep these lens. It should go without saying these are perfect for getting started and experimenting with ND or just filters in general.
So three filters, a cloth and some NDs to let you play around is great.
I recommend buying two sets if you already have filters you are using, then tossing or donating a few filters you don't use for your existing filters. Or buy just one to start out in filters and ND and replace what you don't use often.
The padded, folding case they come in is great and keep the filters nice and protected. I like using these in my waterscape photography & long exposures. They can be used for multiple different types of photography. I like that they twist on, I always worry with glass filters you’d clip on to your lens that they might fall off.
Definitely double check the size of your lens before you order though to make sure they'll fit. Since they screw on to your lens it’ll be very hard to use them if they are the wrong size. Your lens should have the mm size written on it.
