And now we have the MeFoto. Light enough that I won't mind toting it around with me, yet rock solid, even with a gripped Canon 7D and 300mm f/4L IS lens on it.
The best part? It folds up so compactly that it fits in my wheeled backpack that I use as a camera bag/carry on when flying.
I even love the variety of colors available. I went for the red, white, and blue one, only because it was cheaper than the other choices. But no matter what color you choose, you sure can't beat the price for what this tripod is.
Thank you Benro for the wonderful selection of MeFoto tripods.

Would also like to thank the seller: aSavings!! Excellent customer service when I thought there was a problem with the tripod (there wasn't. It was me!!) Like others have reminded, check and double check to make sure you have those twist locks locked down tight.
MeFoto was a brand I had never heard of, but after extensive research, it appeared to be one heck of a strong, versatile, compact, and VERY affordable tripod manufacturer -- and cherry on top: a wide selection of colors. My choices ultimately came down to the MeFoto Roadtrip and the Backpacker. I ultimately chose the Roadtrip, and in this review, I will share with you what my thought process was, and why I ultimately selected it.

If you want an inexpensive (compared to carbon fiber and other brands), light, sturdy travel tripod/monopod this is it!
If you have money and want less weight get carbon fiber version of this (more than double cost)
If you need heavy gear support (this does fine with D750 and sigma 150-500) get Globe Trotter or Globe Trotter Carbon
-Great stability for such a small/travel tripod
-High quality construction
-Fluid-smooth panning control
-Included case is a nice touch
-small footprint when collapsed
-Tool-less monopod capability is a very nice touch
-Don't like the supplied head? No problem - replace with your favorite
-Retractable hook on bottom of central post provides easy way to add a weight bag
-Mounting foot could be smaller
-Mounting foot requires allen wrench for secure fit to camera
-Replacement leg shoes (spiked posts) are not integrated like many tripods; rubber shoes must be removed completely to accommodate spiked alternates
-On the heavy side for an ultra-portable tripod
-Drag control knob seems superfluous on this model, when Head locking knob seems to accomplish same goal
-Bubble level location is 180, but should be 90-deg from head locking knob
All in all a great purchase
