Alvin embodies the typical, self-centered "child" who only thinks of himself and all the presents he wants for Christmas. He procrastinates writing an essay for school, about the true meaning of Christmas, because he has no clue what the true meaning of Christmas is.
Enter the Ghosts of Christmas past, in the altered forms of "people" Alvin knows.
I only gave this movie four stars, because it's hard for me to understand the chipmunks.
Ebenezer makes an appearance as the neighbor's cat, rather than Scrooge.
