If you are offended by strong language and strong sex scenes, do not read Always Room for Cupcakes by Bethany Lopez. If you are not offended, then I strongly urge you to pick up this book. This is a really fun read, a fantastic story with some very strong characters. I laughed so much while reading this I had tears pouring down my face. The story line is sound, there is plenty of action in it - between the sheets and out - and a lot of suspense. It is a unique story line and Bethany has done an amazing job with it. There really are no holds barred but, with the exception of a couple of words that I personally don't like, it was all done very tastefully. This has everything - action, suspense, murder, romance and sex. Great book, I will definitely be reading more from Bethany Lopez. - Reviewed By Anne-Marie Reynolds for Readers' Favorite

As a mother of boys, I was rather disheartened that the author implied that a 10yr old watching porn was 'natural' and glossed over the issue entirely by passing it on to the dad.
I was also surprised that the scene with the heroine being taken captive played out as it did. I know that her character is portrayed as a vigilante of sorts and I'm all about being a strong, independent woman but what kind of man runs for cover with the kids while allowing the mother of his children to be kidnapped and taken hostage. It was just a bit weird for me.
Overall, a fast, easy read but don't think I'll continue with this series. It just wasn't for me.
Got as far as page 4 and deleted book from my kindle.
This act of revenge though has brought a new job her way. She’s now a photographer for Moose, a private eye. She’s good at getting in and getting the incriminating images, or so she thinks. She’s been made by numerous people, from a drug dealer, to a reporter who asks to do a story on her, to her ex-husband. On a case involving some suburban women who are possibly becoming drug dealers, she meets Cade. The hot, alpha male riding a motorcycle who comes to her rescue.
When one of her best friends tells her that Cade is in a MC, Lila doesn’t seem to care too much. When she does talk to Cade about it, he promises that his involvement in the MC will have nothing to do with his interest in her. It seems that Cade is tired of the love ‘em and leave ‘em lifestyle he’s been living all these years and has set his sight on Lila.
This isn’t a fluffy HEA though. When Lila’s kidnapped, she gets a drug that turns her into a zombie blown into her face. When she’s told to do horrible things by the kidnappers, she does, no thought involved, even when it comes to hurting herself, and her boss.
If you like snarky characters, witty writing, an interesting storyline, and cupcakes, you’ll want to read Always Room for Cupcakes, the first book in the Delilah Horton series.
I absolutely adore this series and I have been devouring them one right after another so I decided I should catch up on reviewing them before I finished up before #5 comes out (which by the way I am totally excited for)
I loved that this was a story for a slightly older couple and their story, I absolutely LOVED the banter between all of the friends and I enjoyed that the story wasn't out of the realm of if actually happening.
The relationships within the pages are far from perfect but the love that everyone has for one another was phenomenal!
Lila works as a photographer for a private investigator. Usually, this means taking pictures of cheating husband or wives. Unfortunately, she gets caught up in a drug case and finds a bunch of bored housewives who have gotten together to form what is basically a drug selling club.
Cade is the man she meets when he helps her get away from the drug dealing guy. Apparently, he's been watching her doing her thing for a while because he wants to get to know her. They hit it off and he tells her while he's gone out with a number of women, she's the first he wants to get to know and date. After a lot of action, and his meeting her kids, they get their HEA.

Lila always worried that her husband would leave her and their twins or that he was having an affair. So much so she’d wake up in the middle of the night crying. Her husband always hugged her and told her he wouldn’t leave her, but guess what he was an F***ing liar.
One night she saw her husbands car somewhere it shouldn’t be, with the windows all steamed up. So she went to the car to investigate. On opening the car door she sees her husband doing the dirty with the sluttiest woman in town. In spite of the shock of what she was seeing, she did manage to take some photo’s of husband infidelity on her mobile. Which she ended up posting all around town for everyone to see.
Now as a single and independent mum of two, and with her best friends support. She is now becoming a much strong woman. Not forgetting the all important cupcakes, as they always seem to make things better.
The only good thing to come out of her ex husbands infidelity is that she ended up getting a job as a photographer for a PI called Moose. Who offered her the job, after seeing the photo’s she’d posted up around the town.
She now finds herself going all over town taking compromising photo’s of unfaithful spouses. Until Moose wants her to follow someone and take photo’s of them doing dodgy dealings which turns out to be dealing drugs. This ends up putting her in a couple of dangerous situations. The first time she was running away from the drug dealer, a mysterious sexy biker rolls up beside her telling her to get on his bike.
The biker turns out to be called Cade, and he is a member of a biker M.C., but somehow she feels safe with him. As they both ride away from the drug dealer. Cade lets her know that he’s seen her a few times, while following the drug dealers, so she started to think that maybe she wasn’t as good at her job as she thought she was.
Cade tells her not to worry, he’s only noticed her because he’s been watching. He also told her that she really needs to keep away from these people as they were very dangerous. So she goes around to her boss Moose asking who exactly it was she’s following and who exactly are they working for?
Things go from bad to worse for Lila on this case. So she ships her twins off to her now ex husband to make sure that they are safe and out of the way. Just as they are about to leave Lila is abducted right in front of her ex husband and children.
Lila isn’t the only one that has been abducted, her boss Moose was already there. Looking in a very bad way. Things become very violent for Moose and Lila. Lila has been drugged so she is now under the influence, which has made her become their abductors puppet and they now make her torture Moose.
Will Lila and Moose get out of this alive? Who if anyone is out there looking for them? Well you have to find out for yourself as I can’t spoil it for you.
This is a funny book, with sexual scenes and some violence while under the influence of drugs. Which some people may not like to read about, saying that though it’s the funny things in the book that I remember the most.
I think the title doesn't really have anything to do with the story and the main character's cupcake obsession is unhealthy.
I liked that the main character was a single mum and worked hard as a photographic expert for a PI, but there wasn't enough detail for me to really connect or emote with her which meant I wasn't as invested in the story as I'd have liked to have been.
I was disappointed with the main story of the novel. I wasn't invested enough to feel sorry for Moose or Lila, it didn't make sense that Cade found Lila and nor was there an explanation, and I think the brothers just got away which is unsatisfying. Lila talked to Carmen despite Bea being wary about this but there was no further story on this aspect. Also what was the point of Lila inheriting everything? This was mentioned but again this line of the story did not continue.
I think the story lacked depth, pace, and it was not really believable. The two best friends were nice but again we did not get to connect with them and I didn't really care much for them.
Grammatically there were only a few mistakes I spotted which was very refreshing.
Overall I think the author needs to work on planning her stories and adding depth and detail; the more she invests the more the reader will become invested.
I would not hurry to read another Lopez book and I certainly would not pay for one when the writing is at this quality.
There were parts of this book I really enjoyed. Lila is really likeable and the style of her character (and the story) reminded me of Kristen Ashley's Rock Chick series. Cade is the hero and I was totally on board with all his b****s alpha ways....the guy is HOT. The story is interesting and I have to say I was not expecting the dark turn of events or the degree of violence that went with it.
I thought the scene with her son where she finds him watching something on the computer was not necessary. Also thought if my ten year old was watching what her ten year old was watching I would be really worried but it was played off as normal. Maybe that's just me.
Secondary characters are great and I'm glad there are more books to find out more about Lila, Cade and the rest of the gang.
HEA? More HFN
It was funny, and free, which is a treat.
The story was enjoyable, entertaining and fun to read, I'm going to try the next one, sometimes they are good, sometimes not so good.....we will see.
