As a political commentator, he has been seen on Fox News, NBC News, CNN, HLN, and more. He has spoken about politics and current events at Yale University, Google, Deutsche Bank, Vanderbilt University, and dozens of other colleges, universities, and companies across America.

Based in New York City, he holds a Master’s Degree from Columbia University.

Rob Smith currently lives and writes on Ohio's north coast. He enjoys sailing, and when not working on his writing, he is refurbishing an 1850’s house which was built by a ship’s carpenter turned lighthouse keeper. He is the author of six novels, but has received recognition for his poetry. In 2006 he won the Robert Frost Poetry Award given by the Frost Foundation in Lawrence, MA. He holds his undergraduate degree from Westminster College in Pennsylvania and master and doctoral degrees from Princeton Theological Seminary.

This book is awesome. Rob Smith is an incredible writer and person. Definitely a 10/10 for the writing and for Rob Smith. I will say, I am unhappy with the fact that I purchased this to be a new book, and very clearly recieved a used book. Frustrating, but it is what it is. Rob tells his story and sheds light on so many topics that are typically avoided in daily conversations. I highly recommend this book, but I don't recommend this seller. I should've bought it elsewhere. Book has pages folded over at different chapters, some marks on page edges, noticeable wear on the book cover. I was going to buy another copy for family member as a gift, but I won't be buying from here to be sure I am getting a NEW copy of the book and getting what I paid for.

Wow! What an amazing story of the ins and outs of life as a black, gay man in the military during DADT. Rob’s honest experiences really kept me captivated, and wanting to know what happened next in his story. His courage of serving in the US Army, and having had to put his life on the line, truly makes me appreciate all that the US Armed Forces does to maintain the freedoms we enjoy here in the United States of America (being a Navy kid and all, it helps hearing of such experiences). I also appreciated his perspective on the LGBT community, helping to break the stereotypes one might hold of the community and the mindsets they may or may not hold. It is definitely a breath of fresh air, and very eye opening and informative. Thank you, Rob!

Rob Smith is one of today’s rising political, and journalistic stars. He is honest, raw at times. He is dedicated to unify people via values and not stereotypes. He supports our President and those of us who vote for him. He is fearless because truth is on his side. I loved reading this book..Picked it up on a rainy day and didn't put it back down until I finished it (~8-10 hours of steady reading). Rob gave a lot of insight on gay life and what it was like to be gay in the military. It was refreshing to see his views on politics, democrat leadership, gun ownership and most of all his crystal clear imagery of life as he saw it. I'm the only republican in my house. I am surrounded by democrats. My wife and three daughters are all democrats. My relatives are democrats, my neighbors are democrats. As hard as I try ( and I really do try) to see their point of view it just isn't happening. Reading Robs work at least gave me hope there are more like him and I'm not going crazy.
