It is a sweet love story from pure fantasy but enjoyable to imagine. There is no biblical detail about this story that can be proven -except the part about a concubine being selected to warm the bed of Kind David- but then that isn't the intent of the book. Its a sweet and sometimes frustrating story of the love between Abishag and Solomon. Abishag being from a simple background and sent to Kind David on his deathbed but meeting his beloved son Solomon by chance and falling in love with him and he with her. As we can imagine, all the tricks and deceit of royal households was at play in this story ultimately separating Solomon and Abishag and breaking their hearts. It was easy to imagine the heartache they were feeling, the Author made sure of that. The passion between the two is sweet and honorable.
I did enjoy this book a great deal and purchased the second book to complete the story of course. At the end of the series I found myself wishing the story could continue because it was so relatable to what most of us have experienced in our own lives with Love and passion. It was easy to imagine yourself being one of the two and either waiting for the love of your life to return in such a passionate manner or being the one to return to rescue the woman you love from a life that has been so hard for so long.
