This book provides great insight to a very intelligent, educated, but down-to-earth man. I had him as an instructor in college and being young myself and taught to respect my 'elders' and 'teachers', I didn't realize just how young he was. He was a very thought provoking teacher, and judging by this collection, he not only taught us to think, but he practiced it himself. I was impressed as a young college student, but even more so now after reading his book. Thanks for holding nothing back, Dr. Johns, and letting us into a part of your life and struggles that many would have just kept hidden.
The brilliance, humility and compassion of Jackie David Johns seems to have no boundaries. As a seminary professor, he was definitely one of my favorites; as a local church pastor, his preaching is unparalleled; as a friend, he is honest, faithful, and loyal. As a writer, he will make you think, contemplate, pray, repent, and look to Jesus...He is a Poet, he just won't admit it.
