The Helix was meant to be a revolution, but even the most pure of intentions can spawn terrible evil, and the revolution of information and innovation they hoped for may not be the one they get.

After a culture of surveillance has taken control of the galaxy, it’s up to an eclectic group of misfits from disparate corners of the cosmos to rediscover the forbidden concepts of life, love, and liberty.

The Helix was created to revolutionize the way we communicate. But even the purest of intentions can spawn terrible evil.

Lithia Boson never wanted to join some grand rebellion against evil; she just wanted to escape from her abusive aunt Petra and take her little brother Bobby with her. But when the United Planets of Earth find out that the lone passenger on her little cargo ship is a rogue agent from the U.P.E. with knowledge of exactly how deep the government’s control of society goes, she isn’t given a choice.

Far from home and with no one she can call on, Lithia must turn to a group of ragtag freedom fighters and refugees for help—but who can she really trust when they are the reason her life stands in ruins and she doesn’t even know where her brother is?

Out among the planets of the frontier, Lithia is caught up in events far bigger than her—events she doesn’t really understand—but Lithia has always been a survivor. To rescue her brother, Lithia will find the strength she never knew she had and go further than she ever thought possible.

I laughed, I cried, and.....laughed some more
The Good------------- The humor is just shy of being ubiquitous in book. I loved it! It actually me laugh!- Great sci-fi related descriptions. Everything from the descriptions of the space ships to the mechanics of the holograms.- So many good quotes throughout the book. I wish I kept track of all of them. My favorite quote is "I'd rather fight and die on my feet than live on my knees." (Page 332)- Most characters, mainly the good guys, inherently possess above average baseline humor. One of the characters, Jerula, will make you laugh your ass off. Another character, Cade, is somewhat of a transitional character; going from antagonist to protagonist. It's like the reverse of Breaking Bad's Walter White where Walter goes from protagonist to antagonist. The Bad----------- Starts off a little slow.

I just finished reading The Amaranth Chronicles by Alexander Barnes & Christopher Preiman. And I was impressed at the caliber of space Sci Fi book they have written. It actually reads a lot like a movie script with a few touches of romance and dystopia along with fantasy and other popular genres mixed in. However, at the core it is science fiction through and through and I really liked it. It was the first book in the series I read, but it seemed this book could be a stand alone. I do, however, plan on going back and reading the other books now.

The authors create a dizzying, multilayered, and multifaceted story that pushes the plot, characters and action forward in interesting and creative ways. They really have master the art of science fiction and have learned to create a futuristic world masterfully.

This book is also an edge of your seat, hold on tight, action, intrigue, and adventure from beginning to end. I most notably enjoyed the well described and unique and fascinating characters that were all set against backdrop of the created believable world.

It is all quite interesting because you really feel like you are being transported and experiencing another time and another reality. Even though there are distinct characters and plot lines the authors doesn’t skip a beat and beautifully and almost effortlessly creates stories with in a story. All the while maintaining the focus and intergrity of the main plot.

I highly recommend. It’s a great book (or books if start with the series and read them in order) to add to your library and share with loved ones. I found the fantasy and fighting scenes appropriate enough for adolescent readers and still interesting enough for adults. The fantasy and science fiction nature of the writing is sure to win fans in the YA crowd. It’s engaging, hard to put down, and full of really great writing. A little something for everyone 5 stars.

The story takes place around 2642. One of the main characters Lithia is a 22 year old Venusian. Her and her brother Bobby were forced to live with their Aunt Petra and Uncle Amir as a result of their parents being killed in an accident. She currently resides on Earth in the upper level of San Francisco. There are several layers of built over the original old San Francisco, so as usual, the rich live at the top and the poor live below in the original city trying to survive. Lithia like to go the the undercity where she tends the flower gardens at Grace Cathedral. This is where she met High Priestess Tarja, who filtrates things through the undercity to help those living there.

Meanwhile, Captain Pacius is heading toward Oasis Ultima along with several other ships representing several plants who are planning on demonstrating against being forced to participate and go along with UPE and being governed by their Helix system. The Helix is an earring you wear that allows you to access information, etc. Only thing is that those planets that use it, the Helix also only gives you access to what they want you to know and also like brainwashes you. So essentially it controls you.

Captain Shard of the UPE's Master ship is sent after Captain Pacius to stop the demonstration. Only Captain Shard is totally ruthless and kills alot of the people and destroys many ships. They capture everyone on Pacius ship. Cade Path is a half man, half cyborg who is a Lanmbda as an observer. The Lamba is a secret entity the UPE created and uses.

Then there is Aurelius Blaze who is a SMMC hard tech mechanic who live on Strife and is a Marine. He is sent on to the governor's ship on a mission to Earth. When the govenor's ship is attacked by Captain Shard, Aurelius and his co-worker Jerula manage to excape in his Storm Chaser and end up o Lithia's ship who is transporting Cade Path to the Frontier at the High Preistess request. Then Shard figures out where Cade is and goes after Lithia's ship.

There are many moving parts and essential main characters that are beautifully described that it literally paints a picture in your mine of what they look like. The story is masterfully written and packed full of drama, action and laughter. Although this is a faifly lengthy book, once I started reading I found it hard to put it down. An absolutely great science fiction novel.

I’m a huge fan of space opera and this one was well done. The main character, Lithia, finds herself helping a cyborg named, Cade. They didn’t know each other, but they knew the third person who happened to bring them together. Cade is in a bind and Lithia just so happens to have a vessel that could help him find his comrades. Her little brother, Bobby, wants to go with her, so he hides himself on the ship. He doesn’t want to be left behind because he, and Lithia, don’t get along with their aunt who had taken them in when they lost their parents.

There is a maelstrom of events in outer space. The big guys—the antagonists, want to take down some very important leaders so they can have power, but the people they come in contact with are not as easy to defeat as they had thought. This is where the action really gets moving, and this was my favorite parts of the story. There’s action inside the ships as well as outside. Lithia is forced to trust people she doesn’t know because her brother was left behind when all the fighting broke out and she needed to get him back. The ending was excellent. I love a good ending and this one did it.

This is a fun read for all age groups. It was easy to read and the action scenes were well thought-out and well written. The only thing that I felt could have been done better was the beginning. There were too many characters introduced, but Lithia was the main character. I wanted her story not only at the beginning, but throughout. I wanted to really feel her anger and sadness as to why she chose to do the things she did. It was only briefly mentioned when she was planning to leave and because of that, her character development felt weak. Other than that, I found the friendship between the soldiers excellently done as well as Cyborg Cade. He was pretty cool.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST SCIENCE FICTION I HAVE READ SO FAR
Reviewed in India on January 31, 2020
"Gods don't always get what they want. Gods just have a way of getting what they need."

United Planet of Earth(UPE), has held strife colony by the throat. Captain Xander Pacius is heading the crew of the Deviant Rising ship towards the star which could lead them to another galaxy accompanied by Sara Rim, the lieutenant.

UPE has tried to assault their freedom by using the technology of Helix. Helix is small but deceptively simple earring which holds more computing powers than all the computers built in the last century. Helix technology is being linked unknowingly and against will, which is the loss of freedom and humanity.
Most of the people feel that making this type of technology mandatory is an invasion of their privacy, alienation of their rights. It's this type of thing that caused the protest.
What happens after Captain Pacius and team dump helix at the Epsilon gate?
The UPE for many years considered the frontiers as nothing more than an indentured labour force.
When they dump the helix, they are counterattacked by the Enigma's Captian Shard. Sara rim is all burnt and captain Xander Pacius is also under unrecognisable condition. But Cade is sure that he is Pacius.
Meanwhile, Lithia, who has been living in California after the incident on Venus where she lost her parents is headed on a mission without having little idea that she has been transporting a fugitive.
But the fugitive is carrying the biggest scandal ever done to mankind.

After reviewing the other two parts I was extremely curious to know about the Helix and other secrets and although the book is a Sci-fi I could feel relations to a lot of happenings in our contemporary times. The biggest one: Right to privacy. Completely loved the storyline and the detailing of everything.
It had some mind-boggling lines inside which I loved so much that I jotted them down. I feel the book would be a really adventurous movie. Recommended.
