The main problem is that it really is just a collection of ideas. There's a lot of "you could try this..." but very little practical information about how to do it in real-world conditions, or what sort of performance you might expect if you did. There's little (maybe nothing) about grounding arrangements, for example, or installation of radials, or how antennas might be affected by height or the presence of buildings. There's a chapter on antenna modelling software, but little guidance about how the results of modelling might be reflected in real-world installations.
When you consider that some of the ARRL antenna publications -- which are absolute troves of detailed technical information -- are about the same price as this book, the poor value for money becomes even more evident.
If you're absolutely new to shortwave radio, have never built an antenna, and can't be bother to do your research on the web, this book might be worth £8 is time savings. Otherwise, there are better books, and better value for money.
