This wall mounted panel type heater works on the principle of natural convection. The heater uses non-conducting materials and is hot to touch but does not burn and is triple insulated for electrical protection. It provides gentle heat to the room over a longer period of time and can be used in conjunction with a separately purchased plug-in type thermostat.
Top Customer Reviews
The packaging was about the same as the other brand but this one wasn't cracked. I did notice the smell other reviews mentioned, reminds me of bandages. After a couple of days the odor decreased and is now very faint, I suspect it will be gone in a week or two.
Mounting was easy and the instructions were simple to follow.
Right now it's set to always be on when the thermostat is below 65 but I may set the timer (separate purchase) to cut down on energy consumption. I haven't had this long enough to see what it does to my energy bill.
Overall I'm happy with this purchase and will recommend for the same use case. If the room was larger I'm not sure it would be powerful enough to keep it warm.
Cracking: As long as the until isn't cracked on arrival (mine wasn't) this might be an installation issue. The unit is mounted with long screws that must go through the heater, heat shield, spacing tubes to keep it off the wall, and then into wall anchors. - that means a tiny margin of error for the angle and spacing the screws have to go in at. The paper template supplied was way off. I'm not that handy and, after an hour and 3 attempts, I was ready to call it good enough even though I knew way I had it mounted was putting pressure on the heater plate. The drywall anchors supplied seemed overly 'beefy' and wouldn't go in straight/ precisely enough so I substituted simpler ones. I don't know how much/ if the plates expand when heated but it's been almost 3 months and no sign of cracks.
Odor: Faint almost toasty whiff for maybe a couple of weeks. Smells like VOC free latex paint.
Otherwise, I haven't tried painting mine yet but would like to. Would definitely buy again.
The drawback is the size and look. It is not very pretty to look at, and much larger than most built-in electric heaters. When remodeling our home and adding a new bathroom, we chose a different type of in-wall electric heater for the new room for these reasons. Otherwise, the heater has worked well to solve our chilly older bathroom problem.
