The advertising of the watch I read stated that the watch did so many things. Sadly, only about one half of the things advertised really happens when you begin utilizing the watch.
I was a pebble steel owner so I have something to compare. This watch is beautiful in the box. It is pleasing to the eye. Does a wonderful job with watchfaces. I love it.
The watch also keeps your steps tracked but the activities and run/walk features are woefully not user friendly.
I jog 2 miles three times a week and have used the run/walk software also. The software is extremely inaccurate. The firmware update and the FAQ for this product says that you can change from metric to imperial. My watch shows miles...but in reality it still tracks km. If you are a walker or runner, this watch will give you an inaccurate figure and you will believe you ran further than you really did. Fatal Flaw.
Not a good watch to track accurate your walks or runs.
The touch screen is also hailed as a feature to behold. In reality, the touch screen does not respond to two taps consistently. As a matter of fact, I will have to tap the touch screen sometimes 10 or 15 times for the backlight to come on. No truth in advertising here.
Lets talk battery life...5 days with normal usage. I have all notifications turned off...half the apps off...everything I could turn off and still tell time. Fully charged battery Saturday night at midnight...Today is Monday... watch battery is at 41 percent. I imagine I will have to plug it in later tonight. Which means instead of 5 days...you are looking at 2.
This watch is not ready for prime time...but I really wanted to love this watch.
I kind of believe they never really beta tested the watch with people that actually run/walk, and have to tap the watch throughout the day. If they had, they would never have put this device on the market as is.
I have the most recent software update and my watch is the english version. I feel that the people that brought this product to us and put all the information out there about what the watch can do are guilty of negligent misrepresentation at the least, and intentional misrepresentation at the most.
I do not think you will be happy
if you purchase this watch. Very disappointed.
Since I wrote my first review, I want to report some good things I have discovered.
First) customer support for this watch is very good. I contacted them about my concerns and they were very helpful in giving me information on how to improve battery life and the use of other features.
Second) The watch really has lovely design and the watch faces, the method of adding them and the interaction if excellent.
If you get this watch for a good price, you might want to get it. I think I realized that the biggest weakness of the watch is its lack of user friendliness and in my opinion, that stems from a lack of information on how to actually use the watch. You have to dig for that information. That being said, the amazfit team is committed to make their product work.
ACTIVITY TRACKING - A big issue for me is that the watch doesn't sync daily steps or runs to the Amazfit Watch app. Amazfit does have an activity tracking app (Amazfit - Activity & Sleep Tracker), but it doesn't support this watch - it only supports the Equator & Moonbeam and Arc. Also, adding an option for "Other" tracking would be great as the watch only allows runs or walks.
SYNCING OPTIONS - If you only care about tracking your runs and saving to Strava, you'll love this watch. The Amazfit Watch app is available on iOS and Android and will sync your runs to Strava and Strava only.
FEATURES - It's great being able to go for a run, track via GPS, and listen to music from the watch via bluetooth. Connection issues are minimal. My music would cut out every now and then for about a second, but nothing too crazy. Syncing music to the watch was very simple. Just install Android File Transfer to your computer and drag songs from iTunes to the folder.
BATTERY - Great; Using GPS, playing music from the watch via bluetooth, on a run for an hour drained about 25% of battery, which is great compared to an Android Wear watch such as the LG Watch Sport which drained about 50-60% using the same features. The GPS is a lot more accurate on this watch compared to the LG Watch Sport as well.
NOTIFICATIONS - The watch does display all notifications that arrive to your phone, but you can't interact with them. This isn't an issue for me.
- Looks slick(not like others)
I have bought a couple extra watch bands that take the looks to another level as well.
- Good fit and finish.
- Long battery life
- Many options for watch faces.
- Accurate calculations
- Everything is adjustable. (vibration, looks, brightness.)
- Always on display!
- App takes a while to sync.
- App layout and functionality not quite as good as others I have used.
All in all I would highly recommend this to anyone.
- 4+ days battery life
- built-in GPS
- less than $200
Surprisingly I couldn't find one that matches to all points listed above. This watch does. For a activity tracking, it works well enough. I'm not demanding it to be exactly step to step counting, just an approximation. Notifications work very well. Unlike the Mi Band, the notification is not lost once it's displayed, you could swipe in to re-read missed notifications. Battery life is amazing, I believe without GPS, I'm getting a good 6 days worth of battery life. The trans flexible display is very nice, making it very easy to read in bright conditions. And the LED backlight complements in dark lighting. All in all, a very good watch.
