The only negatives are the heartrate monitor and screen. The HR seems a bit off most of the time. This is kind of annoying and hopefully updates can fix this. The screen looks absolutely awesome in direct sunlight, but not in poor light. The backlight isn't very bright and viewing angles leave a bit to be desired
It is LUXURY on the wrist and TECHY on the features.
Since from the beginning you can feel the quality.
The BOX it is polished, with a very good material... When you open it you have the WHOOOOOOO effect. Here in the middle a "BLACK" jewel packed with technology.
The Carbon Fiber body it is shiny and the different shades of black give to the watch the elegant luxury touch.
The setup steps are easy and clear. Just scan the BARCODE once the watch is on and ET VOILA, the watch is ready to go.
The initialization is very quick and once you have it on your wrist you don't want take it off...
I'm using it for training. Swimming, Running and Tennis... Well the BUTTONs are very useful when you are running and sweaty...
The MP3 Bluetooth streaming is fantastic, there is NO LOST of signal and the sound it is always CLEAR.
The AmazFit APP it is well done and it gives a lot of information. The training data can be exported and loaded into the GOOGLE FIT app. I'm very satisfied.
10mile run, 1 hour 40 min, 26-30% of battery
5k run, 26 min, 8-10% of battery
5k short interval (200x10) with vibration notification: 9% of battery
Comparing with Ticwatch Sports/Huawei Watch 2: a 30min 5k run with music+heart rate (always-on display) = 25% battery gone.
I am running 20 miles each week, biking to work on Tuesday to Friday (3 miles each), 1 charge lasts almost a week (slightly better than Garmin 645 music).
Based on above estimate, this watch has no problem running a 4h-5h30m full marathon with music+GPS+heart rate on, which no Apple watches nor Android watches can do.
Screen is 5 stars for outdoor, 3 stars for poorly lit condition. Unlike Apple Watch or any Android WearOS watches using OLED display, which you have to bump up the screen lightness under sunlight. Stratos is using a transflective screen like Garmin watches, the brighter the sunlight is, the clearer the image is. For indoor, the screen is good as well. The only scenario the screen's readability is sub-par is when you use the watch to track swimming during evening time.
Music experience is 2 stars. Apparently Xiaomi doesn't streamline the music experience as good as Apple Watches or Android Watches (iTunes/Google play auto playlist sync). There is even no playlist support so far. You have to name the mp3 files sequentially to play them in a certain order. The bluetooth connection is okay. I am using a Trekz Air, the signal does not drop when wearing on the right hand. I experienced occasional drop when wearing on the left hand, but still much better than Ticwatch S or Huawei Watch 2.
App experience is 3 stars. The app itself is like Garmin connect and I give 5 stars, you can customize your workout, the stat fields shown during a run/bike/swim. It has no problem on the latest Android system (8.1 on Pixel 2 XL). I am subtracting 2 stars because it asks too much permission (luckily on Android 8.1 you can customize what permission to give the app).
