This book was written, looking back from a secure, much happier vantage point. Oleinik writes with perspective, compassion toward herself and her family, and a leavening of humor. -- The News & Advance, Newspaper, July 31, 2005
From the Author
When I decided I wanted to publish my memoir, I called several writers, wanting them to ghostwrite it for me. They all advised me to take some classes and do it myself. So, I wrote it myself. It is a starkley honest contrast about my personal relationships and my battle with mental illness. In the midst of one psychotic episode, I became convinced that my car was actually a computer used to control me, so I drove it into a Maryland creek and broke all the windows with a rock. Later, I was told that I was clinically dead from an overdose of sleeping pills. Getting this out was very therapeutic for me, and my goal is to help people in similar situations.
