If you are a Spider-fan this book will hit most of the right notes. It seemed to be part epilogue and part prologue though.

This book was planned over three-two hour zoom calls and it shows. The team promoted the book by saying they were "trying to do right by Ben Reilly" and for 19+ issues he's portrayed as an incompetent fool and ineffective hero, his memories are stolen, and his sense of self is erased and he does a hideous new costume becoming "Chasm", and edge lord who narrates in the second person. If you were excited about Zeb Wells upcoming ASM run or Nick Lowe's editing prowess, pick up any issue of this trash and you will reconsider. A hugely cynical cash grab that doesnt feel satisfying issue to issue or read as a whole. Spider-Man Beyond is a masterclass in making bad and unappealing comics. No one who put their name on this garbage will ever see another dollar from me. If I could give it 0/5 I would. Dispiccable.

Ben Reilly has long been my favourite comicbook hero and now he is back I had to buy a copy. Yes he is being manipulated and isnt his own man at present but having Ben back as Spider-Man is worth the read. It has all the callbacks to his excellent previous run as Spidey you could want and this is just his first issue.
Its a shame Ben and Peter arent brothers emotionally any more but give it time.
A brilliant first ish and jumping on point.
