- Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2022Peter Parker has always been the guy who needs a break. Who gives more of himself even at great cost. To add in the support characters and their perspective was genius. The gift to Peter was the love letter I have been wanting but never knew about. Well done you beautiful writer. This book had me enthralled.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2023I haven’t actually read any stories with Gwen Stacy yet (I’m currently reading “The Death of Captain Stacy” and was going to read about her demise before delving into this issue, but I didn’t want to lose track of the story since I read issue 9 a while ago. This seemed like an emotional reunion and a touching moment for long time fans, and I’m curious how they felt about it. As a new fan, I’m still enjoying this run.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2022Average story tie in. the only redeeming aspect was we got snippets about a plot that caused all of the issues in Peter's life but it was nice seeing the wholejudgement of Peter Parker as its own isolated story.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2022Zeb Wells introduced several mysteries in his first issue of Amazing Spider-Man. Now we have an issue in which Peter Parker is being judged because of an event that is happening in the X-Men and Avengers books, so maybe Wells would finally start to reveal some of the mysteries, such as what did Peter did to make everyone hate him?
Of course he doesn’t. Wells’s run is the biggest waste of money ever.
This is a very boring issue in which Peter continues to be sad and depressed like he has been since Wells started writing the book. He’s being judged by an avatar who looks like Gwen Stacy instead of Uncle Ben for some reason, even though he wasn’t responsible for Gwen’s death, Norman was. He aimlessly wanders through the book so he can tell Aunt May he loves her yet again and tell Jonah he’s always been a good guy (he hasn’t) and then he apologizes to the avatar for working with Norman which is apparently doing because he loved Gwen so much he has to work with her murderer which is asinine logic. Then because Peter is such a nice person the avatar somehow is able to bring Gwen Stacy back to life so just she can tell Peter he has a big heart before she has to be dead again, which doesn’t seem very fair to Gwen. Zeb wells has no sense of nuance to his writing and cartoony exaggerated art from Nick Dragotta makes a moment that I guess was meant to be heart tugging into eye rolling. Isn’t it time to retire this boring cliched version of idealized perfect Gwen? We get it, she died fifty years ago, it was sad. But Peter moved on and the audience moved on, only Marvel can’t. Also Wells has a very bad habit of turning female characters into gifts for Peter, he did the same thing to Felicia Hardy in Amazing Spider-Man 6, it’s just embarrassing now.
So still nothing about what Peter did or why Mary Jane has two kids, just retreaded “Gwen’s dead, Peter’s sad, boo hoo,” that was more cleverly, authentically and far better written in the 1970s.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2022Despite being a tie-in, this feels like an important read. It fills us in on the supporting cast and gives Peter & May some especially emotionally powerful moments. It’s also gorgeously illustrated. Feels aesthetically in line with previous issues by JRJR.

Steven StacyReviewed in the United Kingdom on September 29, 20225.0 out of 5 stars I love GWEN Stacy
I thought this story started out a bit slow, but as soon as Gwen was in the picture, out was really moving and touching,i think they could've done more but I feel the judgement of Norman should be very different and they better not cop out. Huge Gwen Stacy fan,so I always love a story with her in. Btw. Her eyes are blue!!!
