It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than himself. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: Oscorp.

I have always been a fan of the Marvel Universe and Spider-man was my favorite due to the realism, which was a unique idea for a comic book hero at the time. I was a proud owner of Spider-Man 1 until I sold it in the late 70's.
This films throws too many villains into the story while re-writing their origins as already established in the comics and first three films. One starts to get the feeling that almost anyone can get super powers through some clumsy mishap. Some of the dialog makes me remember the Batman and Robin movie and how that killed the franchise until the new films came out. I think that with this film Spidy might have jumped the shark.
Lastly, I'll just say that Andrew Garfield does an amazing job as spider-man and the chemistry between him and Emma Stone is phenomenal. I love where they are taking this series and I can't wait to see the next one. :)

Now, despite all of that I felt that it's rather more fun than its immediate predecessor, particularly if you file it under 'turn your brain off, enjoy the action, one-liners and effects' and it does have occasional moments of inspiration - greater focus on Peter's scientific and technical talents and better Spider-Man costume design for example. Just don't go looking for deep character exploration, intricate plotting or backstory.
We don't know what a continuation from Toby would have been like. Not sure about a remake really.
Hope we're going to see more of Andrew as Spiderman, either as himself or part of the Avengers.
The quality of the video is first class and the sound quality top notch...this is not always the case with Blu rays despite what some think...The steering of the effects were great too..Recomended..Cheers
