It's nice to have unlimited free storage for photos as part of my Prime account but this application is so primitive that it is not useful. It is easy to put photos in but if you have a lot of photos, good luck in finding the one you want to take out. You can sort photos by the date taken or by date added to the cloud drive. That's it. No folders. No tagging. If you happen to have two photos with the same ID, you can only keep one of them. That may normally be OK but if you go through cameras like I do, each camera seems to start with DSCN_0001 so I have many photos with the same ID. This is fine if they are in separate folders like on my computer - but there are no folders in the Cloud Drive Photo app so you must throw away a photo or go to the trouble of giving it a new number. A more sophisticated app would recognize that there are different dates associated with the two photos but this app is too primitive to have that feature. I am amazed that Amazon would release such a half-baked application.

So, thank you Amazon for the thought but until you make this more useful I will go elsewhere for photo storage. I hope you have a 2.0 version on the way.

This is an update. I have been a little too harsh. Folders are available in the application which makes it possible to upload photos which have the same ID number by uploading them in separate folders. But, you cannot upload folders in the drag-and-drop web version using Firefox as a browser. You can do so using Chrome. You can also download the Cloud Drive Photo application and install it on your PC and upload folders through it. It does not seem possible to move folders in or out of folders once they are on the Amazon Cloud Drive. It would also be nice to be able to rotate photos for viewing in the Amazon Cloud.

Viewing of photos from the Amazon Cloud on an iPad is quite nice.

It's pathetic. You can't sort pictures by file name, and even if you've arranged the photos in neat folders, it still lumps them all together and lists them by date last modified. You have NO options other than that on your kindle or android device. If you have more than a few pictures, then the app is completely unusable. It's poorly thought out and poorly executed and what makes it worse, you can't view those folders in any other media app. So you basically have a photo management app that doesn't allow you to manage your photos.

If I could give zero stars, i would. This is a rarity from Amazon — it's a severely poorly done project. IF all you want to do is push stuff up and leave it, you will likely be OK. However, If you actually want to be able to manage the information you upload, then stay away.

Some of the shortcomings:
• If you decide you don't want your information posted up there, you cannot simply clear the content. There is no way to reset/clear the content.
• The only way to delete files is to delete them singly, or click-shift select then delete a range. If you have thousands, this is a highly labor intensive process.
• If you upload files that don't meet their definition of "photo," then the document is still uploaded, but as a "document," which counts against your maximum limit.
• The interface is rudimentary at best.

Wait until they actually make this a functional product before relying on it. If you have a Microsoft Office 365 subscription, OneDrive is a much more robust and evolved product.

I couldn't be more disappointed with this service for one main reason. YOU CANNOT HAVE SUB-FOLDER ORGANIZATION!!! What I mean is, lets say you had photos of 5 vacations you went on, and each of those vacations was it's own photo folder on your cloud drive:
Cloud Drive -> Pictures -> Vacation #1
Cloud Drive -> Pictures -> Vacation #2
Cloud Drive -> Pictures -> Vacation #3
Cloud Drive -> Pictures -> Vacation #4
Cloud Drive -> Pictures -> Vacation #5

Now lets say inside each of those vacation folders, you organized the photos into a few sub-folders for that vacation. For example:
Vacation #1 -> Snorkling
Vacation #1 -> On The Beach
Vacation #1 -> Random Pics

If you were to then open your cloud drive iOS photo app, it would show this as the folder layout to browse your photos:
Vacation #1
Vacation #2
Vacation #3
Vacation #4
Vacation #5
On The Beach
Snorkling
Random Pics

You can see the huge problem with this! Not to mention you can't have any folder on the iCloud drive with the same name! What a stupid, horrible, decision on the part of the designers!

Not useful to me at all, even with my prime unlimited, as I need the following to replace the functionality that I enjoy, and pay for, in dropbox.

a) organize photos into albums
b) add tags individually or in batch
c) sort by file name and/or tags within an album
d) share an whole album, not just individual photos
e) add a slideshow option with settable durations

Note that file dates are not very useful as a sort order since editing a picture changes the file date and time and therefore would put the picture out of order. Also the desired order is rarely the order in which the pictures where actually taken. Think in terms of presenting the photos to someone else in a reasonable flow.

Let me know when you think you are ready for real photo users.
