Amazon just contacted me via email

"Let me assure you that Amazon.com does not support or promote hatred or criminal acts; we do support the right of every individual to make their own purchasing decisions."

"Amazon.com believes it is censorship not to sell certain titles because we believe their message is objectionable."

In other words they are not taking this down and for that I will no longer be their customer.

This is a quickly generated email that has already been posted on another site -- We also allow readers, authors, and publishers to express their views freely about these titles and other products we offer on our website

Nor will I. This is disgusting. Amazon is a privately owned company. They decide with whom they will do business. Censorship is a legal restriction on publication. A private decision to avoid doing business with a publisher is not censorship. I will no longer support a business who has no problem with publishing a guide for child abuse.

Yep...no longer buying from them either. And will let all the other people I know about the selling of this book on here.

This is ridiculous people, NO ONE is forcing you to buy it, while I do not condone this, I do also not condone censorship. Which is exactly what Amazon is saying. Are you guys not going to shop at Walmart because they sell Rated "R" movies that depict Explicit Sex/Nudity/Violence? aka something that is considered "offensive" by many people. Do you like the government telling you what you can and cannot do? People like you guys are the reason that so many "free speech" rights are taken away, YOU have a choice to buy and support whatever you like, likewise YOU also have the ability to create your own books, regardless of the topic. How would you feel if someone told you that your opinion was not welcome? You people make me sick. (I know this isn't grammatically correct, I am not an english major so get over it)

EDIT:
Selling Marijuana for recreation, Illegal. Book about it, NOT Illegal.
Murdering someone, Illegal. Book about it, NOT Illegal.
Child Molestation, Illegal. Book about it, NOT Illegal.

This is this only point I am trying to make. I realize and AGREE that it is WRONG, but this BOOK is not illegal.

As far as I know, Amazon does not sell obvious pornography, so how is it that you have the hipocracy to say.....

Walmart selling Explicit sex/Nudity/Violence is completely different than promoting sex with children.

As a society it is our job to defend and protect those that cannot do so themselves...meaning our children. If we do not do this as a society then what is the point of having a society to begin with?

I am not asking the government to step in and tell Amazon not to sell this...I am asking Amazon and responsible cooperation to voluntarily take it down as a responsible cooperate citizen.

If you cannot see the difference between free speech and promoting harm to children I am sad for you...

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 10, 2010 11:11:11 AM PST
This is in reference to our children and their safety from sick people that would even consider purchasing this kind of filth. If it was adult material on a topic that didn't include children in any way, to each his own, but I draw the line when it comes to children.

R. Levesque- Amazon sells tons of porno, you should do research before you spout off.

WOW.. Going by the free speak.. You are not allowed to use certain words for it then violates others rights.. If I was on here throwing the "N" word around, then I would be banned, but I do not have 1st Amdment right then? This should be banned, not to the fact that we all disagree, but it is providing instructions on commiting a felony.. If amazon wanted to they could remove it.. If they are a privatly owned company, they have the right to deny any sales for what ever reason they want. I used to buy LOTS from amazon.... Not again.. Oh.. And yes i do shop at wal mart.. It is not illegal to make a rated "r" movie.. No if it was child porn ... I would boycott them as well....

I guess the people defending this would think differently if there son or daughter, sister, brother or family member fell into the sick twisted discusting hands of a pedofile and this was his guide book.. and using the guidance, got a slap on the wrist rather then jail time.... Poor children.....

Bixillarla says:
What do you consider pornography? There are a ton of Ebooks by independant authors that is nothing but photo collections of nude men and women on Amazon.

They have no policy aginst it.

Buying and reading this book is not against the law. Carrying out the act is. We have freedom of speech in this country.

RubyRocks says:
So far nobody has defended the book, just debated about censorship issues and whether or not it is fair to post reviews on something that you haven't purchased or read beyond the sample pages.

RubyRocks says:
Although I personally think that if someone was willing to download the sample pages, they should be able to comment on it.

This is true. I believe Amazon chose to not sell gay erotica for the Kindle. Good point.

Jeremy says:
Be that as it may, the ratings were clearly meant for what it was content wise, and not it as a product people own.

The thing about freedom of speech, though this doesn't apply to it being sold, only its not being a crime, and then Amazon's no censorship policy is that as much as we wish all the heinous things were exceptions, they're actually sort of the whole point of the policy. You don't need a no censorship policy for a how to about gardening, and you don't need free speech laws for the cases in which everyone agrees. They exist almost solely for the controversial.

Curious says:
I agree with you. If they did of course they would be seen as promoting pedophiles and/or illegal acts, but in reality they could tell everyone what it's really about. Then we could get REALLY angry. I kind of wish I had a Kindle so I could be that person.
