This cord is a fire hazard. I bought it in August. Yesterday (January) it melted down. I smelled an electrical burning smell for hours, but couldn't locate the problem. When I found it, I picked it up, and the cord was very hot, had melted down. The stuff oozing out burned me. Not safe.

The description specifically says that is fits most cases. I have a leather iPhone 6 SE case I bought from directly from Apple. I have a 3 ft AmazonBasics lightning cord and it fits through my case perfectly. This 6 foot one DOES NOT fit through my case. This cord was a complete waste of money. If you want to keep your phone in its case and charge it, SAVE YOUR MONEY. I may as well have taken the money I spent on this and set it on fire.

Like so many charging cords I've ordered for my iPhone, this cord simply stopped working within a matter of days. I've been told many times by friends, "Always buy your charging cords direct from Apple." "Apple Certified" apparently is still not the same as the actual Apple cords.

This thing sucks. Wish I could get a refund. It worked great for the first week or so, and then after that I would plug my phone in and it would say it's charging as my battery was decreasing... Then after 3 weeks of having this hunk of junk, it went on fire!!!!!!! Would not recommend this. Bottom line: get an actual Apple charger.

The end(charge end melted)
The charge end melted (see the picture)even melted the rubber maid lid it is in contact with, you can see the red rubber at the tip of the charger end..luckily no device was connected ...but i do notice my iPhone was getting extremely hot while charging and i removed it from charger couple of times ( being paranoid after seeing the social media messages mentioning the phone exploded while charging ,people got burnt etc etc)...Please Amazon dont put people life in danger by selling cheap poor quaility china products

As many other reviewers have noted, this cable doesn't hold up. It's junk compared to the similarly priced but far superior Anker cable. Amazon and Anker both stand behind their products, and Amazon did agree to replace this cable under warranty. But that process took more than 20 minutes by the time I found the Amazon number, called, got connected, and discussed the problem. And Amazon wants me to return the old cable - adding to the PITA factor. In contrast, the one and only problem I've ever had with and Anker product was resolved with almost no effort. I posted a negative review and Anker contacted me and offered to send an upgraded replacement.

Two stars for the fact that it comes with a warranty. The product itself is one star. Don't buy.

I've had mixed success with Amazon Basics products. Some are great, some are not so great. This one falls into the latter category.

This used to work, but three days ago both my iPhone 5 and iPad mini popped up with error messages that it is not an authorized accessory and now it won't charge my devices. I have 42% battery left and am using some of it to warn you away.

A lot of times, I will see a product that I want to buy, and the reviews are mixed. Some are five stars, some are one star. This time, however, I really feel like I should've actually paid attention to the one and two star reviews. A lot of people are saying that they experienced the cord frying at the iPhone connection. I saw pictures of peoples blackened, and burned cord. I thought they were just isolated incidents. Guess what? They aren't. The cord looks good enough but the real issues start when you plug it in. What really struck me as odd was when I plugged the cord in for the first time. When I connected the USB to the wall charger, I heard electricity crackling. To make sure that it wasn't a faulty connection, I unplugged the wall charger and removed the USB, re-plugged in the USB and then plugged in the charger to the wall and still heard electricity crackling inside the charger. I removed the cord from the charger and placed another cord in the wall charger: no crackles. I put this cord in the wall charger, and the crackling resumed. After seeing the brown and black burned cords of other users, I am actually afraid to keep this plugged in all night and potential my burn my house down. 1/5 stars. I'm afraid to use it.

Amazon has eliminated the strain relief at the cable ends (see previous product image attached) that was present on all of the cables that I ordered through 2015. The new design is dangerous as it makes shorting inevitable (a friend smoked a cable in her car) if you are lucky it will just fail too soon. Quality control went out the door on this one! What a shame to damage the Amazon reputation. Better to pay a bit more and still get a good value rather then a hazard.

Was hoping for better quality / quality control from Amazon. Only two weeks of use. Will be asking for a replacement.

UPDATE: Amazon sent me a new cable; as soon as I open the box I find that it is coming apart from the tip. UNACCEPTABLE- this is not only an inconvenience but also a fire hazard!

Cease sales on all your Private label lighting cables and conduct a quality control inspection.

As an experienced merchant, I recommend you get a new supplier.
