There is no need to buy more expensive HDMI cables

Please do not waste your hard earned money on overpriced HDMI cables in the name of picture or sound improvements. I currently am using these AmazonBasics High-Speed HDMI cables to connect our Yamaha v379 AV receiver to other HDMI enabled devices that link back to our 4K Samsung Smart TV and these have performed flawlessly.

HDMI cables come in four types: Standard-speed --> Standard-speed with Ethernet --> High-speed --> High-speed with Ethernet. Since High-speed cables are so cheap (e.g these AmazonBasics cables), there really isn't any point of getting Standard-speed anymore. On the other hand, as most HDMI devices today can't receive Ethernet over HDMI, High-speed HDMI cables are really all you need.

** Some numbers **

Standard-speed HDMI cables are rated up to 1080i ("i" stands for interlaced). In order for a HDMI cable to have a "High-speed" moniker, it must be capable of showing resolutions up to 4K --> 3840 x 2160 at 30fps (or 4,096 x 2160 at 24fps). And as the highest resolution any 4K TV currently on the market can produce is 3840 x 2160 at 30fps, even if you found a $100 cable at your local BestBuy that claims it can transmit much more than that, it doesn't matter as you are limited by your source (i.e your cable box, Xbox, PS4 e.t.c) and your TV's hardware capabilities.

Also HDMI cables can either produce an image/sound or nothing at all. There is NO in between. Therefore, a HDMI cable will either work or won't work (it may show a flashing image but this means it's a bad cable). But a more expensive HDMI cable will NOT show darker blacks and sharper colors than a less expensive HDMI cable. You either get 100% of the signal or no signal at all. Now if you intend on running your HDMI cable for more than 50ft, then you might want to invest in a HDMI cable that has "active" chips that help maintain the signal quality over a longer distance (but does NOT make the image/sound any better than the source).

** What about HDMI 1.4 or 2.0 or HDCP 2.2? **

This is another common misconception due to manufacturer marketing. HDMI 1.4, 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 are all hardware changes that do NOT require a cable change! Although there is a difference between them (you can google that yourself), there is no such thing as a HDMI 1.4 or 2.0 or HDCP 2.2 cable! The version numbers refer to the devices that the HDMI cable connects into & NOT the cable itself. The cable simply is a pipeline linking the two. Hence, if you do happen to own a TV and another device that both have HDMI 2.0 ports, any AmazonBasics High-speed rated cable will work perfectly fine with it.

** Conclusion **

At this price point, there is very little reason to spend more money on more expensive HDMI cables over these AmazonBasics High-speed cables. If you have a 3D, 4K, HDCP 2.2 or HDMI-ARC compatible device, these High-speed cables will work perfectly fine for you.

I bought 2 of these and had the same problem ...

I bought 2 of these and had the same problem with both. You either get no picture or a very red striped or pixelated picture not clear enough to make-out or watch. It isn't enough of a connection to provide a signal so it goes in and out. We used one in our bedroom and kept having problems with the connection. We thought it was the Roku or the power supply and replaced both. We eventually quit using the Roku thinking it just wasn't going to work. We used the other in our game room to attach an extra gaming system to the TV. Apparently it has never worked - I just thought my kids preferred the other games. When I realized their's hadn't worked either I tried a cable from our cable box and both my Roku and their gaming system worked perfectly. Since they were both used on "extra" electronics, I didn't realize they weren't working in time to return them.

Too thick

These cables are REALLY thick. I bought 2 to feed these though PVC pipe in my walls to a media closet. Only one would fit and took up so much space, it was hard to get the other wiring back in. If you are looking to run these through the PVC that runs through your walls, which based on the length, these would appear to be meant to do just that, you may have problems.

Do not use for XBOX One. Cable does not fully seat in XBOX HDMI port receptacle.

Not happy with these HDMI cables. The ends of the cables are SQUARED OFF right before the male HDMI connector. Many HDMI devices have their female HDMI ports recessed slightly. This squaring off of the cable ends blocks the cable from deeply seating in the HDMIi port of the device. An example of recessed HDMI ports is the XBOX One. I am constantly having to push the cable ends into the XBOX One HDMI ports to enable the video connection. The tips should be much flatter (tapered) as many other HDMI cables are. I cannot recommend due to this poor design flaw.

Affordable and Quality Cable

Why are cables so expensive? Because it's the last mile and without it, your wonderful TV, speakers, phone, and other electronics will not work without it! That's why I like Amazon Basic electronic products. It fills a hole in the market place and they have produced affordable and quality electronic cables. In the past I used to buy all of my electronic cables from Monoprice but since I have Amazon Prime and the quality of the electronic cables are good, I have purchased an iPhone charging cable and this HDMI cable to connect a PS3 and my laptop to the TV.

Defective cable

I purchased two of these cables to connect presentation laptops and iPads to two Samsung LED televisions in my office. Both cables, on both monitors, and with different laptops and iPads cause the image on the TVs to flicker and sometimes go to black permanently. I have upgraded the firmware on both Samsung monitors and all of the presentation laptops and iPads have the latest OS and video drivers installed. It appears that these cables, for some reason, are unable to transmit the HDMI signal due to eventual signal loss along the cable path.

Initial review:
I have had this cable for about a week now (the 25ft verison) and it works flawlessly. It is capable of 4K UHD @ 60Hz as well as HDR and 4:4:4. The cable is honestly a tremendous value for what you are getting. My only issue is how thick and rigid the cable is. The cable is about the thickness of my thumb and takes some elbow grease to bend the way which you want it to. My only fear is that the type of handling the cable requires to lay flat might reduce the lifespan. I will update the review if that proves to be a problem.

= I was looking for an HDMI cable to connect my desktop tower to my TV so I could play some games on the big screen, but somehow my local stores were charging nearly three times as much for less than half this length (~12' for $29 USD). I cringed and started shopping online with lowered expectations. I found this AmazonBasics 25' HDMI thinking that, as cheap as it is it might not be as good, but maybe it would do the trick. However my expectations were vastly exceeded. Most importantly there's not even a hint of delay in transmission which I had expected from such a long cable. I even used it with my monitor for a few months and if anything it was better than my 3' stock cable.

High Quality, Will Buy again.

We have a Vizio 32" TV that hangs above the fireplace in our Living Room, we do not yet have an electrical outlet behind our TV. We also did not want to mount our Xfinity X1 Cable TV unit on the wall. Xfinity only gives you a basic 4' HDMI cable. We needed 25' feet of HDMI cable to run through the wall and into our nearby X1 Cable TV unit. These cords are much thicker than what normally comes with you TV, Cable Box or from a shelf at Walmart. They don't have "long ends" which means they mount very easily between a TV and the wall. I will by these again for other TVs.

Now that I am older and wiser I figured out you do not need some overly priced cable to get a good picture. I've always had confidence in Amazon's AV cables, and this High-Speed HDMI cable is no exception. I have a 50" Vizio TV in my bedroom that is mounted with a Cheetah mount (APTMM2B), and I also have the Datacomm 50-3323-WH-KIT installed behind the TV for cable management. I ordered this 10' HDMI cable so that I could connect my Apple TV to my TV. The cable is a perfect length and the video and audio from the ATV to my TV is excellent.

Just As Good As High Dollar HDMI Cables

High priced HDMI cables work just the same as these. I know there's videophiles out there who will cite studies showing signal loss and noise and yada, yada, yada but the truth is, Amazon Basics HDMI cables put your digital AV on your TV just the same; you cannot possible perceive any difference with the human eye. Buy these cables, save some money, sit back and enjoy your TV.
