For myself, it's exactly what I needed. It will stay in a couple of rooms and really I have no need for a very expensive tripod. I personally am grateful for such an inexpensive option.
This rating is based off product cost and functionality. I wouldn't recommend for someone looking for a tripod used regularly being set up and broken down frequently, I can't imagine it lasting a very long time in that case.
For those like myself, doing some recording and photo taking in a general area, this does the trick and a very minimal cost.
I hope this helps, cheers!
Dear AmazonBasics: Please offer this tripod WITHOUT any tripod head, just a 1/4-20 bolt so we can all chose our own tripod head. The price should end up the same or even a dollar or two less. That way if the legs or lock levers are ever damaged -- and they are the most vulnerable -- we can just order a new one and transfer our old tripod heads.
I'll update this review if I encounter any quality issues.
It's OK. That about the best I can say for this little tripod. It has features that mostly stand out as detriments. First, the strap is adjustable, but it allows for so little adjustment, it might as well have just been fixed in length. Second, it has a quick release plate, but the plate is not easy to attach to the camera, and the plate is wobbly when attached to the tripod. The overall effect is to make the attachment wobbly, and inconvenient to use. It would have been better to just have had a normal post to attach to the tripod with.
The tripod is very light, but also short. That could be an advantage in a few situations, but mostly, it is just short. I took it out for an early morning shoot Saturday. The wobbliness was even more noticeable with a camera and telephoto lens. For the price, I expect I will keep it around, but it will almost certainly be relegated to either holding a light camcorder, or a speed light.
I will be taking it with me on my upcoming tour of New Mexico, and I will update this review if anything more comes up.
I'm back from my trip through New Mexico. The tripod proved to be far less useful than expected. The "quick release plate" was probably the worst feature of the tripod. As noted previously, it is very wobbly. What's worse, it is quick release, if you don't want to change anything. The attachment is very small, the metal flap for screwing the bolt into the camera or other device is tiny. Overall, the tripod is barely worth having.
Having had it for more than two weeks now, I've yet to really find a good use for it. For the most part, this tripod is now used for holding a generic flash clamp. It is also reasonably useful for holding a very small camcorder. Nothing heavy.
Recap: this tripod is very light, but not practical, because of the wobbly "quick disconnect" plate. Amazon could've made a serviceable tripod if they had not tried to add so many features on to the tripod.
Amazon, I suggest you ditch the "quick disconnect" plate, and replace it with a traditional thumbscrew. Form over function has no place in photography equipment.

In that case, if you are not satisfied you should invest more and buy some professional grade product.
But at this price (800/-) the quality of this tripod is unbeatable. You can't find a better tripod at this price.
✔️Looks good and professional, and the color is awesome
✔️Functioning has no issues, all screws and movements are smooth and working properly
✔️Height is sufficient
✔️No issues with stability in the room, or on the terrace( given it's not much windy)
✔️Very lightweight so easy to carry
✔️Built is sturdy, I have been using it for 10 months. No issues whatsoever.
✔️it can easily handle my Handycam and smartphone, it's not for heavy DSLRs.
✔️it comes with a small carry bag, that's very useful.
❌ Not sturdy enough to be used outdoors.
❌If you intend to use your phone with it, you need to buy a mobile phone holder separately
BOTTOM LINE: If you are a beginner and want to use it mostly indoor and don't want to spend much. It's the deal you want. But not for outdoor photography and professional purposes.
Please press "HELPFUL" if you liked my review of the product.
If you're on a tight budget and just need to hold your camera still, this will absolutely do the trick.
It packs up very small.
It unpacks into a rather large rig, comfortable to take photos/video while standing (I'm over 6')
The colour isn't as obnoxious as I thought it might be.
You do compromise on quality; the tripod legs feel delicate and bend under force
The swivel head is far from smooth.
The short arm on the swivel means you have less precision in movement.
At it's default "horizontal" position, the base plate lists slightly to one side - probably by 1 or 2 degrees (barely noticeable).
The head of the tripod has the previously mentioned horizontal position as well as a vertical one, however there is no mechanism to change the position. So if you're focussing with a long lens, the rotational force on the camera body (and therefore the tripod) can quite often lead to the tripod head flipping into its vertical (portrait) position. Not ideal if you're shooting video at the same time because your picture goes from landscape to portrait in one shot.
From my experience so far (2 months regular use): great for photos and okay for stationary video and video that tracks on one axis (vertical OR horizontal, mixing the two makes the movement of the swivel head far too jerky).
Oh and don't try to zoom while filming.

This is my first ever tripod. I have a simple Sony cybershot camera. My camera easily fits on it. This tripod extends to a very good height. I bought it specifically so that we don't have to ask for strangers to click the pics. Also, the main reason is to use it to take pics and videos of Northern Lights in Iceland. This tripod will surely provide me non-shake pics and videos, which is a key to operate the camera at night.
I am quite happy with it.
The only thing is it is a little bit wobbly. I think it will struggle a little bit if the camera is heavy. But for my light weighted camera its serves the purpose.

2nd Review after 3+ years since I purchased it
It is just an update to my previous review including pics and a video.
After 3+ years of its fairly regular use, I could not find any changes to my first review. There is no additional downside. The plus point would be that despite its regular use there is no noticeable wear and tear. Its functionality is still the same. I will stick to my 4 stars for it.
