I searched high and low. Went to target and TJ Maxx... But to no avail. Why... Why were simple square pieces of fabric $50.00!?!?!? I could not afford this. I could not justify the spending of $50.00 on plain white fabric. So I searched. I searched high and I searched low Until I came here...
To The Amazon.
It was here. Here I discovered them. Plain white sheets at a modest and affordable price.
"Don't buy them! You'll regret it! You need Egyptian cotton!" My mother said.
"No! I care not what cotton they be! All I need are sheets! I have no one to impress! No one who shares my bed! I am a lowly virgin promised in matrimony to another with a sworn vow of chastity! I care not for fancy sheets!" I shouted.
So I bought them. I made my bed and I laid in it. And I can tell you that yes... They are I fact sheets that you can sleep in.
When these sheets arrived, I excitedly opened them up and threw them in the wash. In case you are wondering, yes, I get excited over things like new sheets and I couldn't wait for bedtime to come so I could sleep in them and try them out! For the price, I honestly wasn't expecting too much since they are relatively inexpensive sheets. Right out of the package, these sheets are fairly soft but after initially washing them, they became even softer. These sheets are made in China of 100% polyester so they wash and dry pretty quickly with hardly any wrinkles. It's important to note that these are microfiber sheets which is a synthetic fiber and thus, no thread count is listed.
The king set includes:
1 - fitted sheet measuring 78 inches by 80 inches by 14 inches
1 - flat sheet measuring 108 inches by 102 inches
2 - king pillowcases measuring 20 inches by 40 inches
After I put these sheets on our bed, I noticed that the fitted sheet doesn't fit quite as snugly as most of our sheets do but our mattress measures about 11 inches deep and these sheets can fit mattresses up to 16 inches deep. It hasn't been an issue for us and having the extra room could allow for a thicker mattress pad or a foam topper if we needed them. The sheets seem to be nicely-made and we didn't have any loose threads. I have a king-size pillow and the pillowcase fits nicely over it. My husband has a standard-size buckwheat hull pillow, which I call his sandbag, and his pillow fits in the pillowcase just fine even though there is some extra material. Once I snuggled down deep within these sheets, I sighed with bliss because they are so incredibly soft! I felt like I was laying in a bed of fluffy, cream clouds. I love how soft these sheets are and, once my mom saw them, she decided she wanted some so she also has the cream sheets for her queen-size bed.
The one thing my husband and I discovered is that we both get warm in these sheets even during the summer with the air conditioner on. We also tend to get warm at night anyway during warm weather so this may not be an issue for everyone. We've used microfiber sheets when it's cooler out during the fall, spring and even winter and found them to be extremely comfortable so perhaps summer isn't the best time for us to use these sheets. Our bed is next to an outside wall and we get colder when it's cold outside so these sheets will be perfect during those seasons. Still, for the price I can't complain too much if we are able to use these sheets for most of the year.
Overall, I'm pleased and fairly impressed with this purchase and consider these sheets to be a good value. I didn't expect much considering the price but these sheets are much nicer than I thought they would be! They wash up nicely, fit fairly well, and are incredibly soft. We get warm using these sheets during the summer but it shouldn't be a problem for the rest of the year for us. I'd recommend buying these sheets if you are looking to buy some new ones and don't want to spend a lot of money. I like them enough that I will consider buying another color!
I was surprised that some folk's sheets are pilling. I did a little research and learned that pilling can be caused by washing your sheets in hot water. Also, try using a gentle detergent. Line drying is ideal; I'm far too lazy to line dry sheets. I wash ours in cold (sometimes warm) water. I tumble dry them (alone - only sheets) on low heat and they still look as good as new.
I ordered a Twin size to take camping; there are metal cots in the cabins with twin mattresses on top and I like to have something in between my sleeping bag and that mattress. I didn't want to spend a lot so I figured an Amazon Basics sheet set would be a one-time use kind of thing.
I wish I had ordered these for my Queen bed - they're wonderful! I almost feel guilty taking them into the wood. They feel super high-quality, I know I'll sleep great a camp.
