I use my wireless meat thermometers for my smoker at least once a week and I try to keep them in this case when they are not in use. I'm not gonna lie; sometimes I'm so busy smoking meat that I barely have time to wash the probes and they might not make it back into the case every week. But it is a good case and I don't see it wearing out anytime soon. Mostly, I want to be able to move or bring this set up to someone else's place without having my transmitter, my receiver, and a bunch of wires and probes, in a shoebox.

A Good Case for a Little More Security and a Lot More Organizing

I bought this case thinking it was a little softer…it’s not rock hard, as it does have a nylon-like cover sewn over the plastic, but within that nylon is firm plastic. There’s nothing in its description that indicates that—and I felt the cloth look the case sported meant that it leaned toward the soft and malleable side—but I’m not bothered by the surprise. I simply hadn't expected it.

Inside, it’s like the picture indicates: each side has inner dimensions that are about 5” x 8 ¾” and about ¾” deep, and the mesh compartments are stretchable. The innermost walls are orange, and the black compartments make for an attractive contrast. The compartment that stretches fully across is pretty “multiple use”; it can hold wires or a longer piece of equipment. The elastic compartment is pretty stretchable, so I wouldn’t count on it holding onto an extremely heavy unit if the case fell open. On the other hand, though, it doesn’t really have to: closing the compartment and zipping it does the holding for you.

On the other side of the case, the upper compartment is best suited for wires or flash drives or similarly small items, but it is large enough to hold an iPhone. My Android smartphone was too big for it (a Samsung). Again, the stretchable mesh fabric is pretty “bendy” and I wouldn’t hope for it to hold onto something heavy if it swung open accidentally.

Below it is a nice multi-compartment section I liked a lot: there is a panel with too small zip-able sections on top that are a little too small for anything but small items: small hardware, small connectors, loose electronic parts, some SD cards, a flash drive, AA or AAA batteries, etc. But behind it is a compartment that holds a decent-sized object (say, 5” wide by 5” tall if you don’t want to compromise the netting above, or the full 8 ¾” otherwise). There’s a small Velcro strip that holds the panel in place if you want to put something behind it, and that gives you a lot of options.

Incidentally, BOTH sides can fit my daughter’s old Nook Simple Touch with ease, but it JUST fit my 7” Kindle Fire HD within it (both sides).

All in all, after using it for a couple of weeks my overall opinion of it is that it is a good carrying container for a lot of electrical devices (and, I suppose, other kinds of products). Since it has no exterior straps or belts or any other manner of carrying it on its own, it must be carried within some other pack or bag or suitcase. In that sense it really seems to have secured a niche as a safe haven and/or organizer: it’s a nice place to centralize several small devices at once, and would be ideal at an airport, where one case would better enable speedy security checks.

As for me, I carry mine within a messenger bag, where I feel its thin plastic shell and mesh holding compartments serve as a relatively reliable electronics sanctuary. Within something, its thin shell adds additional security to the normal banging some more delicate items might receive otherwise in a bag. But it also makes it a little more difficult to snag an item on a regular basis…were the case to be inside a bag I would not place my phone within it if I were expecting a call. But as a holding device that both organizes and provides protection for such items, I think this is a very good choice.

Great case to stash your electronics while travelling

I needed a semi-rigid case to carry a Roku Streaming Stick and Amazon Fire TV Stick and most of their accessories with me when I travel for work. After spending a day at remote offices, there are some occasions I want to relax at the hotel and watch my favorite streaming channels. And the Roku and Amazon sticks allow me to do that (why I carry both is for another discussion!).

If you have a streaming stick, you know how small and compact they are. But it's the rest of the stuff that's necessary that needs a case:

- microUSB to USB cable (just about any one will do; in most cases, it doesn't have to be the same cable that came with the stick). I typically carry two with one that doubles as a charge cable for my smartphone.

- short length HDMI cable. I carry 3 ft AmazonBasics one ( AmazonBasics High-Speed HDMI Cable - 3 Feet (2-Pack) (Latest Standard) )...

- a HDMI coupler (something like this: VCE® (2 PACK) HDMI Female to Female Adapter Gold Plated High Speed HDMI Female Coupler 3D&4K Resolution )

- and a HDMI right angle adapter (something like this: Generic 2x HDMI Male To Female Right Angle 90-360 Degree Adapter )

The short HDMI cable, coupler and angle adapter allow me additional mounting flexibility in case I encounter a hotel TV where the HDMI port is in an arm-twisting, absurdly mounted location where you cannot directly insert a HDMI stick into it (TV too close to the wall, HDMI port is in a vertical position, etc.)

Also:

- A dual USB port travel charger. I have this one: iClever BoostCube 4.8A 24W Dual USB Travel Wall Charger with SmartID Technology, Foldable Plug for iPhone iPad, Samsung Galaxy, HTC Nexus Moto Blackberry, Bluetooth Speaker Headset & Power Bank, White . I really don't need to carry multiple chargers or a charger to charge more than two devices at the same time so this little cube does the trick for the stick and my phone.

- A 2-prong to 3-prong grounding adapter (like this: GE 14404 Polarized Grounding Adapter, Orange, 2-Pack ) for when the AC outlets in the hotel are in some weird locations and the USB power cube can't plug all the way in. The grounding adapter "raises" the outlet just enough in most cases to allow proper insertion (sorta like those AC power extension cables some use to plug in wall warts into power strips but instead of carrying around a 1ft thick cable, the grounding adapter serves a similar purpose).

- And both sticks' remote controls + their AAA batteries (I take one battery out of each remote to prevent an accidental keypress inside the case and draining the batteries. The battery I removed gets placed into a small plastic bag or a AA/AAA 2-cell small carrier. It looks something like this: Bluecell 4 PCS Blue Color AA / AAA 4 Cell Battery Storage Case but it a 2-cell variety.

The AmazonBasic Universal Travel Case for Small Electronics easily carries all of the above and other small electronics parts I may need to bring along. It sits nicely in my backpack carryon. I was using a softsided bag to carry this stuff but I got increasingly concerned that the stuff inside the bag gets unnecessarily crushed by other items in my carryon (c'mon-- we all do it-- stuff our carryons to the gills). At least there's a fighting chance I won't break something if something/someone sat on my backpack.

This electronics / gadget case is very useful to me. I carry a lot of charging cables, adapters, usb pen drives, external hard drives, and so forth.

This keeps everything organized, keeps my bag clean, and makes rummaging for specific components non-existent. The case is also sturdy, well protected, and is constructed with high quality materials. The zipper pulls are also very easy to use and rubber coated for that soft feel and ergonomic design for ease of use.

The inside of the case does not disappoint either. You can slide a large device such as an iPad mini or external hard drive or passport into the mesh pocket on the left side. And on the right side, there is more than enough pockets and mesh zipper compartments for cables or small gadgets such as phone charging cables, usb thumb drives, SD or micro sd cards, etc. There is also an inner compartment under the flap which is perfect for storing power banks or game consoles.

I have attached a picture and this is what I carry on my bag on a daily basis. This travel case is quite reliable.

On the left I carry a PS vita gaming console (You can also fit a 3DS XL) and a set of Bluetooth Earphones.

On the left I carry A couple charging cables such as a 6 ft lightning cable, a 6 ft micro usb cable, 2 usb thumb drives, one usb charging AC adapter, an Anker power bank, and a couple SD cards and a USB OTG adapter.

I don't carry much, so there is much more room to spare! I can't stress buying this case enough. The price is way too good!

Simple and cheap solution

Don't be put off by the "basic" label at all, I am very pleased with the product considering the price that I paid for it and it seems very well built a+d hard wearing to me. The outside of the case is solid and would withstand a drop but is somewhat flexible. The case isn't really marketed as a protective case and shouldn't be compared to case that are designed to protect your electronics, but nonetheless they certainly much more protected in this case than being lose in your bag.

I see that a lot reviews mention the size of the case and that it does not fit in your pocket. This is true, however the dimensions are stated in the product description and for me this was a plus point. The case comfortably fits both my iPad Mini and 7" Galaxy tab in the same compartment (I have put some thick material in between so that they don't scratch each other) as well as all the related USB cables. In the other side, I have more leads, and external hard drive and a spare battery and could probably fit more things in there too. It's perfect for keeping everything together that goes together and keeping them safe. Depending on how you use it, it may well take up more room than if you were to tip everything into your laptop bag or backpack but for me it saves a great deal of time by allowing me find things easier and I also know that my electronics are less likely to be scratched up and suffer from being thrown around.

I bought this case as I plan to travel this summer and wanted to have a case to keep some of my electronic essentials together in one place.

The case itself has a number of internal mesh dividers that is very handy when it comes to separating certain items to storm them separately. The smaller pockets themselves are perfect for storing smaller items such as memory cards and other batteries for your camera etc. Other compartments are satisfactory for storing USB cables or phone chargers. (Depending on how bulky the plug is)

The case itself doesn't have a particularly hard shell, but is firm enough, and doesn't have adequate padding on the inside to protect your items. Despite this it does give the impression that it will protect its contents reasonably well. It is larger than you expect it to be however it is not large by any means and fits subtly into my backpack.

It does its job superbly for what I need it to do. For anyone looking a reasonable sized case to store accessories in, you will not a better one for this competitive price.

Phenomenal Case

Although I have only had this case for the past few weeks, it is standing up to rigorous use. It is MUCH sturdier and better-made than other brands such as Case Logic. Those have usually only lasted me a couple of months before falling apart and those seem primitive in details and design in comparison to this case from Amazon Basics.

This is a semi-hard shell case with multiple dividers and pockets inside for a variety of electronic gear. Thick pull tabs make opening and closing each compartment very simple. It was wider than expected and may be a bit thick for certain briefcases or bags.

I am a freelance writer and photographer, so no matter what I am doing on any given day, I need to carry a variety of electronics with me. My standard load includes: iPhone, Macbook Pro 13", DSLR camera, charging cables, extra batteries, SD cards, headphones and a portable hard drive. That means I need to carry a LOT of stuff. This travel case is able to efficiently hold my power charger for the Macbook Pro, charging cable for the iPhone, battery charger and extra battery for the DSLR, extra SD cards, headphones and a portable hard drive. I can also fit other small items such as a pen or business cards.

I am very impressed with this case. The pockets, layers and pouches are all well thought out. They can adapt to any device. The zipper pockets can fit anything from memory cards to cables. I especially like the fact that you can see through the mesh - there is no fumbling around.

To be honest, I have been extremely impressed with all of the items I have purchased from the AmazonBasics line. Although the line seems to be paralleling with generic goods, it is superior to name brands. Highly recommended.
